Thrilling imagination, magic, mystery, and adventure!,
By Callie "chroi" (Portland, OR United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Book of Names (Diadem: A Fantasy Mystery, No. 1) (Paperback)
My sister went to a Scholastic Book Fair and discovered this book, and like Animorphs, it brought the reader on a great adventure. This book series is full of puzzles and mysteries, making the reader a part of the adventure. There is magic and wonder, fights and conflicts, and characters that share the adventure with you. The author John Peel does an excellent job in developing characters and filling the atmosphere with imagination and mystery. Those of you who love the thrilling adventures in Animorphs and Everworld will also really love this adventure.

When I first looked at this book I thought it would be strange but when I started to read it I was transported to another dimenion. I was amazed by the story and how it was described. The way he wrote it made it seem as if you were traveling along with them and fighting by their side. I highly recommend this book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of my favorites!,

Granted, John Peel's Diadem books may not be the most technically advanced books ever written, and they certainly aren't great works of literary genius. But they are incredibly addictive, and great fun to read. I own the first six, and I've read the entire series several times. The puzzles within the books, while simple, give them an interesting dimension, and if you have the older versions, the covers themselves even connect to form one long picture. The characters have much more depth than you'd expect for a series aimed at a younger audience, and the story is actually quite complex. And not only are they fun to read, but they only cost around five bucks each.

This Book Will Change Your Life,
By A Customer
This review is from: Book of Names (Diadem: A Fantasy Mystery, No. 1) (Paperback)
This is a fantasy you will never forget. The pages are covered with superior remembrance. The book is so wonderful, you won't put it down till the last page is read. This book has changed my life because it has taught me to never give up and keep trying. Like when Score, Pixel and Renald, (the main characters), were stuck in a jail cell and kept on trying to get out. They couldn't figure out a way, but they kept on trying. They tried climbing out the window, but it was too small and too high. They tried to melt the lock by combining their powers but they found out their powers weren't strong enough, yet, to melt the lock. So they took some hay and stuffed it into the keyhole. And by combining their powers again, they could catch the hay on fire and that melted the lock.
The biggest reason I think this book is the best is because you didn't know what was going to happen next. This book constantly kept me in suspense. It also makes you feel like you are a part of the book. Like it was happening right before your eyes.
I going to continue reading these books until I read them all!!!!!

This review is from: Book of Names (Diadem: A Fantasy Mystery, No. 1) (Library Binding)
I read the first book...forever ago...in my small local public library. I fell in love with it. Then, on a whim, I searched for it to see if any of the new books had come out. Strangely over the years, they had! I think I'm going to go order some of the used books since they are all long out of print. I totally suggest the book to any young reader. ...

I have read the first four books recently, and I am in love with them! My favorite characters are Pixle and the Unicorns- they are wonderful! Dondar is my favorite world because of the Unicorns and Dragons, and I love all of the magical trials they go through. These books are sooo incredible, and everyone should read them!

I went to a library the other day and found the diadem series. as soon as i picked it up i was an instant fan. the book of names features charecter development of the three main charecters (score, pixel and renald) the three of them start seperate and gets taken to a new universe by half animal, half humanoid creatures. pixel (my favorite) is in a technicly advanced world. he always is in a virtual reality game where he makes freinds. the house takes more care of him then his parents. renald is a princess who wants to be a knight but her father wont allow her to. so she runs away. lastly score is a orphan kid. he was the first to realize his magic. his father is in jail and it was thought that it was because he killed his wife. so score lives his life by winning on the side show things. this was until once where he realy did. there were three cards and he absent mindedly turned a card into a queen of spades. the owner sencing foul play chased him. eventualy each of the three charecters got to a planet where a wizard lived. they advance their magic talents and eventualy overthrow the wizard because he wanted to kill them to gain their talents to go to the next level of magic. in conclustion this is a terrific book. one with this skill only comes once every 100 series. go to your local library and check one out!
