About the Author

Hugh Pollard was typical of a brand of British firearms expert who wrote books on guns and shooting in the early 20th century. Educated and well-to-do, a veteran of World War I and various colonial police actions of the Empire, and an agent of British intelligence, Pollard had the opportunity to shoot lots of guns under different combat conditions, and he had the expertise to later evaluate them in a number of highly readable books.

Timothy J. Mullin is a former infantry officer in the U.S. Army and deputy U.S. marshall. He is a life-long gun lover and fervent defender of the Second Amendment. His well-regarded series on combat weapons also includes volumes on handguns and rifles.

Hard to describe, (& hard to find) very informative, very well written, authoritative without being dictatorial or belittleing, documented.

I read this book in a day.
