This book is an excellent collection of positive quotes. Particularly useful is that the book is divided into Parts (Peace of Mind, Living One Day At A Time, Preparing For Success, Knowing What To Do, Overcoming Negatives And Uncertainties, Making Dreams Come True), and then sub-parts within those parts (such as acceptance, happiness, prayer, self-confidence, the past, the present, this moment, hope, role models, change, decisions, realistic expectations, fear, worry, risks, courage, success, commitment, just do the footwork then let it go, perseverance, failures and mistakes, the advantages of adversity, reacting to events, etc.). Within every Part are anywhere from five to seventeen sub-parts, and within every sub-part are anywhere from several to numerous quotes. These divisions are very useful when looking for quotes that pertain to a particular topic. The quotes come from a wide diversity of people and time periods, making this a rich source from which to find and choose quotes that fit an individual's present circumstances and can provide encouragement and motivation in those circumstances. With 704 pages of actual quotes, it provides a wealth of quotes to peruse. What I appreciate about this book is that it's not comprised of simply "cheery platitudes," but instead contains many thought-provoking and motivating quotes. This is the best quote book I've come across yet.

This book is the best I've seen....on positive quotes and inspirational ones....If you're into inspirational quotes and want them broken down by category, this is your book. ;)~

I have been looking for a book of good quotations for the inside of greeting cards for a while. My first try was The Ultimate Guide to the Perfect Card: Prose-sentiments-poems-expressions followed by The Ultimate Guide to the Perfect Word: Quotes - Titles - Poetry - Tips - Words. Neither of the previous two books was quite scholarly enough for me. This one is. It not only includes over 10,000 entries, but those entries are from historical people who have shaped our world rather than from the author or a current celebrity. Naturally, many of the quotes are much longer than would fit in a greeting card, but most seem to be a short paragraph or less. I am truly thrilled with this book of Positive Quotations!

This book is just what I was looking for. To start, the book is pretty big, and each page is filled usually with three columns of quotes. The book is well divided with each section labeled clearly. In each section, they also continue to break down the quotes. For example is you go to "fear" you will noticed it group like "dealing with fear" "How fear affects others". All in all I think the book is very well put together. The quality of the quotes is also impressive. From figures that go back centuries to modern day people. The only small complaint I have is some quotes are repeated. For example if a quote can apply to two different categories. But despite this the book is still well varied. I highly recommend for anyone looking for a book of inspirational quotes. I love it.

This is a great large quote book! Over 700 pages filled with quotes, I would rank it as one of my favorite large quote books on the market. It is very well-organized by category, and you will really enjoy it! This is a good one to share with your friends and family.

I love this book. I bought it in 2003 when things weren't so positive in my life and there was a quote for just about every situation. I don't think I have read the entire book cover to cover. But I open it frequently for encouragement, reminders or to lift someone else up. I was feeling so grateful that I looked up John Cook the compiler to thank him, sadly he passed away years before I purchased it. But I say thank you anyway and recommend it highly.

I purchased this book awhile back. I intended to use it for having just the right thing to say in my blogs, my scrapbooks, and even my essays and papers. It has stood me in good stead. I also have Bartlett's Quotations, but I find this book even more useful. Why? It is all Positive Quotations. In this day and age of negativity it is a welcome oasis or respite, if you will.

This book has everything. Whatever your mood, it's there. A well rounded selection. Good for every reader. There's not a whole lot more to say about it.

I bought this book after seeing a recommendation in one of my scrapbook magazines on using quotations. This book wasn't as helpful (or interesting) as I had hoped.
