4.0 out of 5 stars Self Publishing made easy
purchased this book because I wanted a fast and easy way to understand the world of self-publishing using Create Space and LuLu. I was not disappointed. The book could not be any easier for a computer dummy like me. It was easy to read and understand doing all the leg work for me. One other aspect I liked about this book, it gave you the pros and cons of both Create Space...

2.0 out of 5 stars Book reinforces self-publishing stigmas
From production values to content, this book disappointed on most every front. Poor typesetting, layout, and design reinforces amateurish reputation of self-publishing. The fact that the cover diagram (and who puts a diagram on a cover?!?!) doesn't even really make sense should have been a huge red flag. And the weird design choices inside--mixing courier and other fonts...

I had never tried to produce my own book although I do a lot of writing for my job. I bought this book as a way to get an introduction to some of the basic ideas and important points and the book does not disappoint. It is a wonderful introduction. I have now published on my own two books and I'm working on several more. This book was a great help!

The author did his best to make his book easy to understand and gave invaluable tips on products, programs that would make self publishing easier. Also his own experiences. I felt comfortable reading it and not stressed out, as other books of this type have made me.

5.0 out of 5 stars highly recommend, December 29, 2008

My experience using Book Publishing DIY / LOTONTECH was excellent. It gave me the ability to transition my rough transcript into a professional, marketable book that I now sell through CreateSpace. The alternative option would have been to spend a fortune with other third party consultants, based on quotes I had received, and delayed the process by weeks. I highly recommend this book and LOTONTECH.

2.0 out of 5 stars Book reinforces self-publishing stigmas, April 6, 2009
This review is from: Book Publishing Diy: The Do It Yourself Guide To Self-Publishing Using Lulu And Createspace (Paperback)
From production values to content, this book disappointed on most every front. Poor typesetting, layout, and design reinforces amateurish reputation of self-publishing. The fact that the cover diagram (and who puts a diagram on a cover?!?!) doesn't even really make sense should have been a huge red flag. And the weird design choices inside--mixing courier and other fonts in same sentence, horribly placed running footers instead of headers--makes the whole book feel like a confusing muddle. Unfortunately, the content feels a bit half-baked, too, and will quickly be obsolete as soon as one of the two printers featured--CreateSpace and Lulu--make any substantial changes to their basic file uploading systems or other features. I was hoping for so much more for over $20, especially with the praise this book received in the reviews...
