Book Description

The Big Book Series October 14, 2004
This title gives inspirational and practical suggestions for everyone wanting to give their children nutritious and adventurous meals. A child's first six years can be an exciting culinary journey which takes him or her from mashed banana, through home-made pizza, to their first mild curry. By introducing our children to a wide variety of tastes from an early age, we can help them to grow into a lifelong habit of intelligent eating. Making the dishes ourselves, we can give them foods that we know are nutritionally balanced in every way. In "The Big Book of Recipes for Babies and Toddlers", expert paediatric dieticians Bridget L. Wardley and Judy More present a delicious food idea for every day of the year. The book is broken down into five parts; part one emphasizes the importance of healthy eating in children - for fighting infection, building strong bones and teeth, and helping neural development; part two covers weaning, giving practical advice on weaning techniques as well as 50 different "first food" recipes; part three focuses on 1-2 year olds; part four suggests breakfasts, lunches, dinners and snacks as well as sections on packed lunches and healthy party treats for 3-6 year olds; part five provides a selection of 7-day meal planners. The emphasis is on practical parenting throughout - the recipes are quick and easy to make (no complicated measurements or methods), and are guaranteed to give enjoyment to your growing family.

This review is from: Big Book of Recipes for Babies, Toddlers and Children (The Big Book Series) (Paperback)
I wanted to begin to prepare fresh food for my infant son instead of feeding him jarred baby food and I ordered this book. It is absolutely wonderful and he has loved each dish that I have prepared. It provides great nutritional advice and suggestions for foods that are important at each stage of an infant and toddler's development.
