5.0 out of 5 stars great book!
I was quite impressed with this book and just a little disappointed in myself for not having read it before- it was written in 1978.
Anyone reading Frater U.D., Peter Carroll, or Phil Hine will find that this book will fill in some small gaps in the information given by these three authors as to how to go about creating a sigil. Again, an excellent little book.

1.0 out of 5 stars I do not like this book
Of the eighty pages of this book, twenty are dedicated to technical aspects of how to make incense, which might be of interest to perfumiers, but is not what a magician buying this book will want to read. Sure, perfume and incense have applications in magic, but they simply are not discussed in this book; what's discussed is the process of getting ingredients, mixing them...

1.0 out of 5 stars I do not like this book, November 4, 2007
This review is from: The Book of Results (Paperback)
Of the eighty pages of this book, twenty are dedicated to technical aspects of how to make incense, which might be of interest to perfumiers, but is not what a magician buying this book will want to read. Sure, perfume and incense have applications in magic, but they simply are not discussed in this book; what's discussed is the process of getting ingredients, mixing them and making incense.

Another chapter is a boring political rant of no relevance.

Ray Sherwin's methods of identifying and exorcising personal demons are of value, but - in a mindboggling piece of bad editing - are split between the first chapter and the tenth. Five or six pages from the first chapter are repeated verbatim in the tenth! Was this book never proofread at all?!

All in all, a bad book.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good study, July 10, 2006

A well written book. I found it extremely helpful. You will in fact get results if you practice what is taught in the book. This book belongs in everyone's library regardless of what level of magik you are working with. It is worth every bit of four stars.

This small book explains in lucid terms how to create sigils and how to cast them. Indispensable for anyone who wants clear instructions on this subject.

This book was first published in 1978 and is a true classic on the theory and practice of Chaos Magick. I'm glad I finally got around to reading it. My only complaint about the book is the amount of typos, you would think that after 33 years all the typos would of been edited. Once you get past that, this really is a great read. Covers all the basics, as well as some advanced principles. Great explanation of sigilization, visualization, how to keep a Magick journal, proper diet, meditation, hygiene, oils, incense and the basics of ritual. A very informative read and great for the beginner or novice looking for a thorough introduction into the practice of Chaos Magick.

This book is supposed to be about sigils, and yet I walked away from it without any idea how to create one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for anyone who seeks more information on magik, April 1, 2007

I loved the section about "The Establishment" on Governments & Religions and their role thoughout history on depressing free thought. Plus the use of the upright pentagram (5 pointed star) on our war machines (tanks, planes...). If you want a different view of "MAGIK" then this is a great read.

Lots of good information. It would be very helpful if you had some prior knowledge before trying to read this book, but otherwise, it's VERY good.

This is a good book...
interested readers,
... however, the last chapter is nearly identical to the first, which we assume to be an error by the publisher. Still, it is well worth reading. We simply wish he had written a lot more.
