Top 10 Cd List !,
By Randy Cooke (Central, FL. USA) - See all my reviews

This CD is a Masterful creation, In my opinion. ((THE BEST composition of ZAKK'S CAREER !!))
If.. I had to make a list of 10 Recordings I could take with me to a deserted Island. This would be one. Way Beyond Empty. Is one of my favorite tunes.. IF.. you are looking for Heavy Metal Fist in your face rock.. Move on.. This isnt for you.. This has a VERY classic Southern rock feel to it.. But.. Don't get me wrong.. It still has enough overdrive to twist your nipples. To sum this release up.. I would absolutely say.. This is one of the ALL TIME ... UNDER RATED releases of all time.. It .. and ZAKK.. deserved much more recognition, than it got.. This release.. is a great Mix of his Pride and Glory era, and a healthy dose of The Black Label society.. A perfect storm as i would describe it...To me.. This CD is his Apex release.

Zakk Wylde is perhaps best known for working with Ozzie. So when I heard about this album I was expecting Heavy Metal, or at least Hard Rock. When I actually listened to the album I was at first disappointed that it was neither. But as I continued to listen, I realized that what I was hearing was very, very good. It is soulful, heartfelt music with superb guitar work. I hesitate to classify it, but as another reviewer noted, there is a strong hint of Southern Rock. I can listen to it repeatedly and do not get tired of it.

One of the best albums you have never heard of,
By Jeffrey G. Coe (HUDSON, FL, US) - See all my reviews

Hands down one of the best pieces of music by a musician that most people have never heard of and possibly one of the finest rock albums ever released in the 90's that never got enough play time or it's due. This was introduced to me by one of my best friends and since then I have always owned it. I can easily listen to it every day and NEVER grow tired of it. Zakk is easily one of the greatest guitarists to ever pick up the instrument and this CD is just a great introduction into what he is capable of playing. This is one of the few CD's that anyone I have ever had listen to doesn't immediately ask who it is and where they can get it. EVERY song on it is good, EVERY one tells a story and EVERY one is unique.
If you gave me a choice of only 5 CD's I could have for the rest of my life, I wouldn't even have to think and this is number 1 on the list. If you don't know any of his other work I suggest you pick up, well, pretty much anything he has every played on. Anything Black Label Society, Pride and Glory, and the Rock Star Soundtrack to name a few (Yes, the lead guitarist for the band Steel Dragon is none other than Zakk himself) Get this CD and I promise you won't be disappointed.
