Editorial Reviews

From the Author

I have enjoyed writing this series because the stories evolved from things relating to my own children. I always love adding a touch of humor to my stories because that's how I am in real life.

Children enjoy this series because Stef is like any other kid they go to school with--so she seems real to them, like a very close friend.

Please write a review after you have read this story, or any of the others in the series. I enjoy hearing from my readers.

This book is a perfect Christian book for tween girls.

I really enjoyed how Susette had the Sunday School teacher tell a story about fear and it set the tone for the entire book. Stef knew that God would take care of her, so she didn't need to fear. I also enjoyed how Stef is always using creative ways to solve her problems. She is a typical tween doing the best she can.

I would recommend this book to all tweens! I'm going to recommend it to the tweens I know.

I received a free copy to review. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the FTC Regulations.

Once again, author, Susette Williams, has created a wonderful tale for the 9 - 12 set in her book Own My Own. Her realistic characters and relatable topics are what make this book genuine and a pleasure to read.

Our "heroine", Stephanie Pixley, (Stef) a twelve year old, 6th grader, is facing the joys and trials of being home alone for the first time, as well as, being responsible for her brother and sister. After hearing stories at school, Stephanie finds her self jumping at the slightest noise. Only to realize, that they are every day things and she should trust God to take care of her.

I really enjoyed reading this book and remembering the first time I was home alone and also the first time each of my children were home alone. If nothing else, remembering those times are good for a laugh, but I don't think that will be all you will be laughing at when you read, Own My Own. Stef and her siblings will keep you laughing throughout the book.

Being allowed to stay home by ourselves is a right of passage for many kids. There's always that first time where kids are given that responsibility and while it's very exciting, it can also be scary sometimes. Stef returns in "On my Own," Susette William's sequel to "The In Crowd."

This is another well written and fun book that deals with real issues that tweens and teens face. Stef is given the opportunity to babysit her brother and sister and she has to overcome her fears and concerns and learn to trust in the Lord. I enjoy the fact that Susette writes about real-to-life situations that make this book relatable to her readers. Another job well done.

I really loved this story. Who didn't want to stay on his own and just wait for the parents to leave? When I was a young boy I wanted to stay alone as much as possible, but my parents always left me with my grandparents.
This story describes perfectly in a young girl POV, the yearning for some freedom, to receive acknowledgement that she is finally a responsible grown up girl. Thank you for the a lovely educational story!

You Can't Scare me (Life with Stef) is a worthy successor to "The 'In' Crowd (Life With Stef)".
Stef is twelve years old and manages to cope with baby sitting her younger brother and sister as well as frightening occurrences as she is trusted to be in charge of the house for the first time.
I look forward to the next book in the series.
