Book Description

May 1, 2003
Aided by breakthroughs in computer technology, The Book Study Concordance of the Greek New Testament has compiled data in a format that has never before been available to Bible students. The result is the creation of a new Bible study tool and a new venue of academic research. This new tool examines Greek words in their respective New Testament book settings with the theology of the book considered. Also provided are word totals, most-frequently-used words, semantic domains, and words set in relation to the New Testament as a whole. This is an absolutely invaluable new tool to the scholarly community.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource for deeper study, August 12, 2005

If you have interest in the Greek New Testament the Book Study Concordance is a must have in your library. Breaking down Greek words BY BOOK is an excellent way to analyze the text and the word frequency lists for each book allow you to see keywords more easily. While a number of software packages can do this type of reporting this book is invaluable for quick reference.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent tool., February 8, 2007
This review is from: The Book Study Concordance (Hardcover)
This is more of a correction to the previous reviewer's score of only one star based on the on the fact that this book gives no verb parsing or other grammatical help.

Does he not realise that this is a Concordance?
It is not an Analytical Lexicon, which it seems he mistakes it for.
Therefore it is not meant to give grammatical information of the kind he would like.

The book itself is of very good quality in terms of its physical materials.
Sewn binding, very clear quality print and well set out.

A book by by book study of terms used can be of a great help to any exegete who wishes to study the vocabulary of a given writer for example.
The NT writers often used the same term in a different way in the same letter or Gospel.
This concordance gives enough line context to enable one to see how that term is used in any given NT writing.
Kostenberger and Bouchoc have provided the NT student with a very helpful tool.
Whilst it does not render the use of a standard Concordance superflous, it certainly gives an added usefulness and angle to concordance work.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not a Good Buy, September 13, 2006
By
This review is from: The Book Study Concordance (Hardcover)
I found this book to be slightly above useless. It doesn't really help with anything I can see, unless you really want to get details on word count by book. If you are into that get software. I wanted a concordance that would give me verb parsings and noun forms on difficult words during the course of a Bible-book study. This tome doesn't help with either. It is really just a large print-out of a computer search. I think Kostengerger could have made it a great one-stop-shop if he simple adds the declension and parsing information with each word form. But as it is its a no-stop-shop.
