4.0 out of 5 stars Good Book
This book is of relatively uneven quality - though its strengths compensate for its weaknesses. On note about the binding - I found the quality of the binding to be rather poor with a tendency to separate. Many of the photographs are very rich and lustrous capturing the beauty of the neckties and embodying why I hope they never disappear from a man's wardrobe...

2.0 out of 5 stars "questionable taste"
The section on the history of the tie is useful, but the rest of the book is anything but value-free and objective. If you agree with this statement, this book is for you: "Tieing a bow tie is one of life's great pleasuers". If you wear anything but the best silk look somewhere else. It is a book for the connoisseur, thus it avoids looking very deeply into broader topics...

This book is of relatively uneven quality - though its strengths compensate for its weaknesses. On note about the binding - I found the quality of the binding to be rather poor with a tendency to separate. Many of the photographs are very rich and lustrous capturing the beauty of the neckties and embodying why I hope they never disappear from a man's wardrobe. However, much space is given to old American ads for ties (ugly) and plainly buffoonish pictures of people wearing "ties." I wish there had been more coverage given to British regimental and club ties. The text was serviceable, but I thought the description of the tie-making process to be a bit confusing. However, for the true necktie afficonado this book is certainly worth having. I have gone back to it many times and simply enjoyed the beautiful images of arrays of silk ties with varying colors and textures

The goal of this book is to get every man to wear a tie everyday and for every occasion, whether formal or casual.

"Alas, the world's injustice is such that there is no butler or valet at your beck and call."
