Book Description

September 10, 2008
The Book of Us chronicles a woman's spellbinding journey through the hidden and fiercely guarded worlds of alternative cancer treatments and the shamanic world of Carlos Castaneda. Jeanne Marie Ketchel's thirty-year relationship with her husband and companion is tenderly and honestly portrayed; her struggles and challenges fully explored. Married at age 19, Jeanne and Chuck became psychotherapists together, raised a family together, practiced Tensegrity together, and explored breast cancer healing options together that took them on many adventures. When it became clear that it was time for Jeanne to leave this world, they intended, if at all possible, that they would find a means to reconnect.

Upon her death, in 2001, Jeanne's adventures beyond this life began immediately. She did indeed succeed in forging a channel back to this reality by connecting through Jan Hughes. Jeanne's evolutionary journey, from the moment of her death, is fully explored and documented in The Book of Us. Her progress in learning how things work in a new reality, the manner in which Chuck learned to look for her and understand what it means to die from this life, and her completion of her past lives is splendidly and candidly portrayed.

The Book of Us offers the reader a portrait of a true relationship, an interpretation of what it means to enter into a partnership, to grow together, to wrestle with deep issues of trust and honesty, and to continue evolving in spite of death. In addition, Jeanne offers guidance in how to grow into a spiritually connected being, how to access other realities, and how to open up to the idea that everything is possible. Her mission, from infinity, is to hasten the evolution of seekers, to encourage all to complete their cycles of reincarnation now, in this lifetime, and to continue growing in a new reality. Her daily messages of guidance have been posted at riverwalkerpress.com since 2007.

Editorial Reviews

Review

I've finished reading The Book of Us and I was very moved by it. You did a great job of telling the story of your life with Jeanne. A very honest and open account of a valiant quest for awareness, understanding, and healing made by a couple who's relationship was a beautiful example of what a partnership between a man and woman can be. Great book, great writing, great message to mankind! --Tom Macan

This book is truly something remarkable. And it resonates-not only the words, but the tone and the style. Even a skeptic will be more likely to believe the words you (and Jeanne) write because the style of writing, the flow, the intangible aspects all resonate powerfully and with authenticity. I've read a number of channeled books. Some have struck me as perhaps fraudulent because the tone was out of sync with the words (or the words just seemed too way-out). But everything in your wonderful story is aligned. What an incredible, unbelievable, glorious journey you are on. --Paul Coleman, Psy.D., guest on Oprah

Wow! As always, I am just totally astounded by the journey you are all on (or I guess I should say we're all on). The story is incomprehensible and yet credible, and I just want to applaud you for all the work you've done, for getting it out there, because I think it will indeed lead more and more people to trust the unexplainable in their own lives, and as Jeanne says, over time it will prove itself and lead to more and more awareness. --Patricia Hart, Speech Therapist, Artist, Journeyer

Your story is so very special and the candor with which you tell it has touched me very deeply on many levels. It is not only your very personal story, a legacy of love, but it also offers a very unique guide to those of us who are seeking. I feel like I have come home. It has had a profound impact on me and from the buzzing I am feeling inside my body this morning, it seems to have awakened and connected to something deep inside that has been lying dormant. --Deborah Cross, Dental Hygienist, Spiritual Seeker

About the Author

Jeanne M. Ketchel, MSW (1954-2001) was a psychotherapist who practiced individually and conjointly with her husband, Chuck, until her death in 2001. Jeanne received her master's degree from Hunter College School of Social Work. Her early career was as a therapist treating children in school health programs for private and parochial schools in Stamford, Connecticut. She later directed a pre-school program for children with special needs in Amenia, New York. As a therapist in private practice she continued to specialize in the treatment of children. A lifelong dancer and classically trained ballerina, Jeanne studied the Magical Passes of Carlos Castaneda for seven years until her death. She also had a first-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, which she taught to children and adults.

Chuck Ketchel, LCSW has practiced as a psychotherapist since 1984 and is certified in EMDR therapy and hypnotherapy. He studied at Hunter College School of Social Work where he received a master's degree. Chuck's major treatment specialty is in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Through his work with PTSD Chuck has learned that dissociation experiences through trauma have the secondary value of teaching people how to have an out of body experience (access to their energy body), which opens the gateway to infinity. In addition, he has introduced Recapitulation Therapy into his clinical practice. With its blend of shamanic, hypnotic, channeled, and psychotherapeutic components Recapitulation Therapy has proven to be a groundbreaking process in the treatment of PTSD.

Jan Hughes, CH a certified consulting hypnotist, is also an artist and writer with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Moore College of Art in Philadelphia. She has published four children's books; worked as a freelance illustrator and editor, and as a decorative furniture painter, house painter, and muralist. In 2002, Jan began receiving personal messages of guidance from Jeanne Marie Ketchel that she documented and embraced during a time of transition in her own life. As the messages changed from personal to more universal guidance, Jan made the decision to become involved in Jeanne's Mission of Awakening and has unwaveringly documented and passed on what she has learned. To assist in this endeavor, Jan certified as a consulting hypnotist and entered into clinical practice with Chuck.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Eagle Flies in The Book of US, October 1, 2008
This review is from: The Book of Us (Paperback)
Pioneering work from the authors of The Book of Us by Jan Hughes, Chuck Ketchel and Jeanne Ketchel. The authors explore psychological development from personal, collective and spiritual levels. The book narrates a journey of personal psychological development under the most challenging conditions that life has to offer; but more importantly, the authors strive to portray their rising as heroes to meet these life challenges. Documentation of the journey is guided professionally by certified psychotherapist and psychological medium Chuck and Jan respectively, and spiritually by Jeanne.

Being a family friend of the authors for over thirty-five years, I recommend this book wholeheartedly to readers seeking to share in a journal of personal and spiritual development. It provides an intimate view into the world of psychological development for the novice and initiate alike.

With commercial publication, The Book of Us has increased its circulation potential to a wider readership, in the hope that it will inspire readers to embrace the challenge of personal development and achieve new evolutionary peaks - the Eagle flies!

Donald McQuillen - Switzerland, 2008
