BookEndz is pretty much the only game in town if you want a dock for your macbook pro since Apple (in their infinite wisdom) elects not to make their own docks. Happily, BookEndz is pretty darn good at what they do, and after owning several of their docks over the years, I can report that all of them were excellent and did exactly what they're supposed to do, and did it very well. This one is no exception. Made of stiff plastic and covered with a stainless steel cover that perfectly matches the 'pro' line of macbooks, it will allow you to use your macbook as a desktop connected to as many peripherals as you have the ports to manage.

The release mechanism is as simple as they could design it under the circumstances: it is a single lever that loosens or tightens the two port hubs on the right and left of the dock. You have to pay attention when positioning the macbook to get it lined up correctly, but after a few attempts it becomes second nature. The usefulness of the dock overcomes any momentary frustration getting it aligned.

If you are a power user of a mac book pro and have a lot of devices that need to stay put at your desk, or if you are a wire management fanatic, or if you simply just want to have the minimum of fuss necessary to connect your computer to your other devices, this dock is a great investment. It's well made and does exactly what it's supposed to do.

*****NOTE THAT THIS IS THE FIREWIRE 400 Model*****
If you have a macbook pro with Firewire 800, this dock WILL NOT WORK, as the port alignments are just a bit off, even though Firewire 400/800 are compatible. Make sure you double check which macbook pro you have before ordering a dock.
