I have owned and used booklights in the past and always found them helpful. I was excited about the compaact design and LED lighting of this product. When I received it, I was disappointed to find that the top portion of the light is clear so that the really-really-really bright light shines on the page and also directly into your eyes - making it impossible to look in the direction of the page, let alone read. I attempted to solve the problem by taping a small piece of cardboard across the upward pointing light. The light was bright enough to shine through. More importantly, I realized a new problem with a weird shadow on the page. Of course, no book light is perfect, but hopefully this video can help you to make your own decision.
