5.0 out of 5 stars Not just for Bookkeepers!
Once upon a time, I argued with my book keeper about how I conduct myself in between her visits. This book isn't just for bookkeepers. It's for business owners who need a basic knowledge of bookkeeping that is written in language ANYONE can understand! If you pay your bookkeeper by the hour, save yourself a ton of money and buy this book!

2.0 out of 5 stars Clearly written by a bookkeeper
I wanted to like this book. But it was far too simplistic in areas, then it introduces new term without explanation in others. Or it over-explains the obvious, then cites Sample charts that are comprised of mostly unexplained entries.

I have the impression that the author forgot who the audience was at times. There were chasms of understanding to leap. If I...

5.0 out of 5 stars Keep This Book On Your Desk, August 19, 2010
From the basics to advanced details, this book covers it all. This is like a college degree packaged cover-to-cover. The book provides:

-- Worksheets.
-- Sample forms.
-- Ways to detect and solve issues.
-- Instruction on how to deal with foreign currency.
-- Ways to monitor cash flow.

And so much more information that this book should have a permanent spot on your desk for easy reference. If you own a new business, established business, or work as a bookkeeper, this guide is a must have.

2.0 out of 5 stars Clearly written by a bookkeeper, February 19, 2011
I wanted to like this book. But it was far too simplistic in areas, then it introduces new term without explanation in others. Or it over-explains the obvious, then cites Sample charts that are comprised of mostly unexplained entries.

I have the impression that the author forgot who the audience was at times. There were chasms of understanding to leap. If I have to google introduced terms while reading an entry level book, or introductory text, then I have the wrong book in my hands.

My copy of 'Where Did the Money Go' is on the way. Maybe I'll have an easier time of it with that one.

This book really assumes you know nothing about bookkeeping or accounting, which in my case was true. I found it helpful in grasping the basic concepts (which are so counterintuitive for me!) so that I can understand what I'm doing in Quickbooks. A necessary evil.

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential Read!!, September 5, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Bookkeepers' Boot Camp: Get a Grip on Accounting Basics (Paperback)
This book really helped me set up my books properly. I had really made a mess of them up until now. It also teaches me the lingo of accounting so I don't feel like such an idiot talking to my accountant!
