5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book for Girls July 4, 2013
By Kim
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
What a great book for girls! The subject is about a princess that takes ballet class, but the overall lesson is about how not to be afraid to face your fears. The princess in the story ends up having a fear of facing a new ballet class but is encouraged by her mom to give it a try. She ends up loving the class and is very proud of herself for not giving up. This is a lesson we all need to teach our little girls in order to encourage them to be strong, young ladies!

5.0 out of 5 stars You're the BRAVE one! July 23, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Learning child's emotion is a very challenging part of a parent. One thing I have learned from the story is being a supportive listener when children have feelings. It's pretty common for a child to be afraid of or at least uncomfortable with feelings in general. It's natural that many of us have learned to be uncomfortable with other people's feeling as well. This is especially true when we're confronted with a child's feelings. When a child for that matter share their feelings to a parent, are we able to respond supportively?

I remember Queen Jacaranda the moment she observed Princess Ruby that she wanted to cry. She knelt down and took her daughter's hands and said, "I know you can do this. Just think about Magnolia Waters and you can pretend she is dancing right next to you." That's a great example of a parent for more loving and supportive to communicate that a child's feelings are heard, respected, and taken seriously than it is to "fix" the situation, rescue the child from the feelings, or try to make the feelings go away. Children learn to deal with feelings more effectively by saying comforting and encouraging words. Teach children to mistrust their own feelings and perceptions, and interfere with the development of problem-solving capabilities.

I love reading books that talks about emotional awareness for kids. I really appreciate and recommend this kind of book wrote by Deborah Bradley and thank her from such wonderful story. I have read some popular books wrote by Chaim Gold entitles, Beat the Overwhelming Shame

5.0 out of 5 stars If you know someone who loves ballet... July 11, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I needed a few books to put on my Kindle for when my nieces come over to my house. We read all of the other ones, but they LOVED this one! We've probably read this one 50 times already.

Now I have two little princesses pas de bourree-ing all over my house (thanks for the glossary in the back, now it sounds like I know what I'm talking about!).

The illustrations are great and the story is uplifting and sweet. I'm fascinated how inspired these two girls get after every time we read it. Get this book for your aspiring ballet dancers.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a cute story! July 12, 2013

I got this book for my niece who is into ballet. She enjoyed it thoroughly. The story is very cute and well written. Princess Ruby conquers her fear and teaches children a lesson. The illustrations keep kids' attention. The best part about this book is a free audiobook. What a great idea! A fantastic read!

This story was a fun read for me as well as my little princess. Loved the definitions after the story too. Jacarandas are my favorite trees too. Great lesson to be learned ibn this story and it applies to all children and maybe parents too.

This story is exactly what every young girl needs to enjoy and explore a part of life that calls for facing challenges and uncertainties. My niece and I truly connected to the theme and for the valuable lesson that it shares: "Everyone needs to follow their dream even if it is "scary" at times."
Young girls can really appreciate the story which is set in familiar surroundings - ballet class.

The illustrations are vivid, engaging, and truly make the story stronger and come alive.
There are lots of lessons to be learned in this delightful tale. It is a wonderful way to introduce young girls to facing challenges in their life with courage, guidance, and self-esteem. The role of mother and daughter is another great positive aspect that encourages trust and bonding.

I highly recommended you purchase this book with a wonderful bonus that is included. The audio version can be a wonderful asset for children who are auditory learners in lieu of the visual learning style. Who could ask for more!

We will be reading this bedtime treasure for sure more than once!

More About the Author

Deborah Bradley grew up as a proud Bostonian; She spent years enjoying baseball games at Fenway Park, summer vacations on Cape Cod, and riding "the T" to get wherever she needed.

In her mid-twenties, life took her to the other side of the world, and what started out as 4 months in Australia turned into 10 amazing years.

While in Oz, Deborah married a "good Aussie bloke", produced a blond-haired, blued-eyed daughter (something she couldn't have imagined in her wildest dreams), and then convinced them to spend some time on "her side of the world."

Deborah is now the mother of three charismatic little girls who stretch and challenge her daily while, simultaneously, giving her the most extraordinary joy.

She is truly grateful to all of them for having inspired her and given her the confidence to become a children's book author. Without them, the possibility would never have been born.
