5.0 out of 5 stars Small town charm, March 24, 2010
By
This review is from: Bookworms Anonymous: A Non-Traditional Book Club for All Readers (Paperback)
This was a very enjoyable read. If you belong to a bookclub or are considering joining one, this is a must-read. Peppered throughout the book are small town nuances, superb recipes, and lists of books that the club members highly recommend. Also included is the list of books that have met the member's stamp of approval (an interesting process which must render unanimous votes to make the cut). This is definitely a quick read that you can escape with on any given afternoon.

This is the first book I've read of Jan's and really enjoyed it. It is a fun, quick read, and the book reviews and recipes included are a nice bonus. I will watch for a part 2!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Book Lovers Must Read!, March 24, 2010
By
This review is from: Bookworms Anonymous: A Non-Traditional Book Club for All Readers (Paperback)
Bookworms Anonymous is a fun read for any book lover. The "worms" each bring an interesting twist to the elite club that meets monthly to review books, eat and chat in an out of the way small town. The stamp of approval book list is invaluable and worth purchasing alone. I look forward to hearing Jan's next story!

4.0 out of 5 stars Book Clubs, March 24, 2010

As a member of a book club I highly recommend this book. If you are not a member of a book club, I still highly recommend this book. Jan Kellis entertains the reader as she describes her book club and it's members.
Book lists, recipes, and stories of small town life all lead to a very entertaining read.
Love the book club motto; "Life's too short to read bad books."

5.0 out of 5 stars Get This Book!, September 14, 2009
This review is from: Bookworms Anonymous: A Non-Traditional Book Club for All Readers (Paperback)
On a recent writers' retreat, our group stopped on our way to Drummond Island at Timberdoodle in Detour, MI, picked up this book on the shelf, recognized the author as the woman behind the counter who had greeted us warmly, took the book with us, and left it on the table the rest of the weekend. We picked it up, laughed at the captions on the pictures, read aloud from the pages, and I read it all today - so absorbed I forgot an appointment. What a find! A happy serendipity to discover in Jan's book the love of, and addiction to, reading that our writers share. If you love books, cannot be without a book on your desk or lap, get Jan's book to savor, share and keep.

Jan takes us to a little town in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where a small group of women start their own book club. The long winters are survived by reading as much as possible and sharing great meals. The book is a quick read and will entertain you from start to finish. Their non-traditional book club makes those of us in a traditional book club sit up and take notice!

5.0 out of 5 stars Funny, interesting, motivating read!, July 10, 2009
This review is from: Bookworms Anonymous: A Non-Traditional Book Club for All Readers (Paperback)
This book was easy to read and I found myself unable to put it down. It provided many good chuckles and I could relate to several situations in the book. The reviews of the books read by the members and their apparent love of reading motivated me to read more. Anyone who enjoys reading and discussing good books should read this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great book!, June 25, 2009
This review is from: Bookworms Anonymous: A Non-Traditional Book Club for All Readers (Paperback)
I loved the book. As someone who lives in the U.P. it struck a chord with me. I found myself laughing all the way. And I was happy to find that I had read a few of the books that were reviewed and shared some of the same opionins regarding them. This book has not only provided me with a new list of authors and books to search for but also a few new recipes to try. The book was so good I read it in one afternoon and evening. This usually never happens as I have two small children who demand much of my time. I hope to see more books from this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book!, June 8, 2009
This review is from: Bookworms Anonymous: A Non-Traditional Book Club for All Readers (Paperback)
This is a witty, uplifting, humorous account of a non-traditional book club in the midwest. I just couldn't put the book down till the last word was read. I laughed out loud more than once. It's a great place to get good ideas about starting your own book club, choosing some books to share and recipes to enjoy.
