Kids Music That Doesn't Annoy!,
By Matt Bailey (Northern Beaches, Sydney Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Boom Boom Beat (Audio CD)
(Review as translated by Ella's dad) I'm 18 months old and love music, Hi5 are one of the very few children's groups that don't talk down to me. The style is bubble gum pop, not nursery ryhmes or overly simplistic la la and I love dancing to it, doing the actions and learning to clap in time.Even my Mum and Dad (who are into stuff like Pearl Jam, The Vines, silverchair etc...) can listen to it without pulling their hair out and it saves their sanity on long drives up the coast. This is only one of several of their albums and, like the Wiggles, there are a few videos/DVDs around too. The music is skewed towards both girls and boys, with 3 girls and 2 guys in the group who sing individually and also as a group on different tracks. There are kareoke tracks at the end of the CD, which will be fun when I'm older, but for now this CD makes me happy and even seems to be teaching me something (hopefully not that Britanny Spears qualifies as decent music).

My daughter (now 4) grew up with the Australia version of the Hi-5 band. However, when looking back now, they prefer the US version more. Still entertaining, they just don't know the songs as well as the US ones. My son (2 1/2) doesn't care, he will jump and dance to anything!
