MOST AWESOMEST CHICKMUNK IN THE WORLD,
By A Customer
This review is from: Boom Boom Boom (Audio CD)
Kelly Deal is COOL. She reminds me of Annette Funicello on junk. Her songs are self-deprecating and human, and the music is both sloppy and melodic at the same time. This is the musical equivilent to that favorite sweater you have with all the big nasty holes in it, that you'd never wear out of the house but want to be buried in. Kelly Deal is the Parker Posey of rock and roll.

Kelley Deal 6000 - 'Boom Boom Boom' (New West Records),

The second Kelley Deal 6000 disc of just two releases the former (at the time) Breeders member had put out under her own merit. Just as good as their first 'Go To The Sugar Alter' (see my review). I saw the band play some hole-in-the-wall dive on this very tour. Tunes here that I certainly got the most out of were "Future Boy", the seductive "When He Calls Me Kitten", "Stripper", "Confidence Girl" and the rocking "Get The Writing Off My Back". Line-up: Kelley Deal - guitar, bass & vocals, Marty Nedich - bass, Tom Mund - guitar and Todd Johnson - drums. Not a bad alternative '90's title.

Better than the critics give her credit for,

I found this used for $5.95, so I grabbed it, knowing I wouldn't feel bad if I didn't like it. But it really is very catchy. It seems that most people who've reviewed this CD can't separate Kelley Deal from her sibling Kim, which is a shame because they really are quite divergent in their musical pathways and approaches. It's not the Breeders, and this is a good thing. Very listenable, you should pick this up. She has an odd humor that comes thru, and her vocal talents pretty much wipe the floor with those of her more famous sibling.

when the breeders broke up we thought that we would never hear from kelly???(kims twin sister) with many trips in and out of rehab she has created somegreat music to shine through your speacker cabinet ..this album just is great full of humor eceletic melodies and sarcasim all in one ..she proves to me she can do it alone..so with out the breeders here kelly really takes it upon her self to really make her own statement of good sounds.its a mixture of the breeders sound but takes it many steps forward babbleing in experimenal and art new and old.witch comes across very nicely for this album.so if you like the breeders and the sound i recommed this to you very highly .it like a trip 0f sound and imagination .i cant decide weather she is brillant or crazy ?!?!but who really cares get some interesting sounds for your collection to play at nite time when there is nothing better to do then tune out and turn on the magic of the kellys sounds for your mind.............i cant wait for more!!!!
