I bought this player for my son's bedroom. It played one CD, and QUIT. This player is a piece of junk. I would not recommend it to my enemy.

worked great for two days,
This review is from: Boombox Top Load CD Player (Electronics)
Bought this at a local store. although I was having trouble getting it to read cds from the start I stuck with it because it has super sound quality. however, two days later. it started to skip playing cds and then stopped playing altogether. Which sucks now I have to drive 15 minutes out of my way to return it. wish I had never got it in the first place.

Great...for a few months...,

My son got this for Christmas last year. We decided on this cd player to play his cd's. It worked great! The sound was great, it was lightweight. Over all we were really happy. Then, after about 3 months the light on the display started flickering. It did this for months. As soon as we noticed it bothering our son, we just put a towel over the display to block the light. Well just shy of owning it 9 months...it has died. The light doesn't go on, when the cd spins it makes a horrible noise. Unfortunately we can't get any radio stations. I'm not necessarily blaming this on the radio...we live kind of far out and have a hard time getting reception. I would say if you are looking for something to use periodically, this little cd player would be great. If you are looking for something for day to day use...spend the extra money and get something that will last.

Terrible quality,

We kept this radio on our back porch for outdoor listening, in a covered place (we live in southern AZ). Worked fine for less than a year, then the sound became distorted. Our 2-year-old had cranked the volume to max a couple times, perhaps blowing the speakers, but she's done this with other radios and they tolerated it. Would not purchase this product, or any other Memorex radio, in the future.

I picked this up at WalMart for 30 bucks. The reason it does not pick up radio signals well is because of the 2 inch antennae supplied with the unit. I replaced it with a longer one, and it greatly improved the reception. CD seems to work o.k. and while there is obviously not much power to the sound, it still has a good sound when played at lower levels. I thought it sounded better than the Sony boombox I compared it to, and it was half the price. Also must say I was impressed by the design and light weight of this unit. UPDATE I was wrong! My 1st unit began randomly selecting random and repeat functions on it's own. Took it back, and my second unit no longer accessed the FM function. I got AM on both settings. Gave up and bought a Sony.

Not worth $15,

The CD portion of this unit stopped working after about 28 hours of use over 20 days. It plays for maybe 2 minutes, starts making a bunch of clicking noises and stops. There are similar reports all over the Internet about this exact same problem. Since this was $25 and I used a $10 gift card in the purchasing, I feel it's not even worth $15. I wouldn't suggest the Memorex MP3851SP 2Xtreme to anyone unless it was being given away and you are looking for a free FM radio with a cool design.

Buy something esle...,

If you are looking for a small radio/CD player combination for a bedroom or other area in the home, buy something else.
Poor, almost non-existent radio reception. Poor quality, distorted sound when playing CDs. A very disappointing product.

Don't waste your money,

My brother actually purchased the orange version of this for my daughter's birthday. All the radio played was a local pop station on all channels. I took it back, decided to try the blue one. The local pop station still prevails...also the display flickered like crazy and wouldn't stay on. It stopped flickering, but the backlight for the display (the part that was flickering) was no more and you can't read it in the dark at all...now the display is completely gone. I can't see what the track number is or anything else on the display at all. I wouldn't waste your money if you're looking for anything quality.

I bought this CD player from a store thinking it would be good but came to find that I can not get radio stations to come in on it and that it makes a scratching noise when I play burned CDs. If you are looking into buying one of these a word of advice and DON'T.

DO NOT BUY,

I purchased this CD player for my 2yr olds birthday. It sits up on a shelf and we use it only to play his "good night" music. I've had it for exactly 2 weeks and it no longer plays CDs. Instead it shows an error message. Company was not helpful in resolving this! In fact they suggested I go out and buy special products to try and make it work. Last thing I want to do is spend more money on this poor quality item!
