Editorial Reviews

“This debut entry for August in the new adult genre is refreshingly charming. Absent are the tortured baggage tropes that permeate the category, which is a welcome change. Readers who enjoyed Megan McCafferty’s “Jessica Darling” series (especially the later ones set in college) will want to read this.” (Library Journal)

“your summer fling in paperback…” (

“August (authors Lorin Oberweger and Veronica Rossi) delivers a solid new adult trilogy launch” (Publishers Weekly)

From the Back Cover

Welcome to, the hottest recent startup in the trendiest city: Los Angeles, CA. Why? Because the site offers no-strings, no-fuss relationships for those on the rebound and those who crave connection—without all the baggage of long-term promises.

But that start-up buzz is fading as Boomerang struggles to grow. The solution? Find two brilliant interns and give them a crack at launching the site into the stratosphere.

Enter Mia Galliano and Ethan Vance. These young strangers—Mia an aspiring filmmaker, and Ethan at the end of a collegiate sports career—are both bright and motivated. And for very different reasons, they're both hungry and up for the challenge.

But things go wrong from day one. For one thing, the night before their stint at Boomerang begins, Ethan and Mia meet at a bar and fall into bed together. What exactly happened between them? Good question. They're both hazy on the details. But they do know how awkward it is when they end up sharing a post hookup taxi . . . to the same place: Boomerang headquarters.

There they find they're competing for just one job—at a company with a strict no-dating policy. But their connection is as powerful as their ambition. Will they manage to keep their eyes on the future and their hands off each other?

I do not read much New Adult (NA), usually it is just a Young Adult (YA) with sex and tragic childhoods thrown in. But if Boomerang is indicative of what the NA genre is evolving into I will be reading more in the future.

This was a super fun romantic comedy with interesting characters that are just starting out in life in their very first internship. It is the slot in life right after college when you are trying to figure out what to do with the rest of your life and you are sure at some point you are supposed to feel like a grown up but most of the time it still feels like you are pretending to be grown up.

We meet Mia and Ethan the morning after. A morning in which the very hung-over pair are trying to remember what exactly happened the night before as they are searching through the apartment for Mia's very scattered clothing. It is hurried as they are both starting new jobs. The opening scene is extremely funny and a great intro into the book.

It's easy to like them both immediately. They joke and have a great natural banter, there is definite chemistry between them that is put to an abrupt halt. It seems they are both working the same internship that will result in only one position and to make things worse there is a no dating policy at Boomerang.

But, they just met and can't even remember how far things went the night before so it shouldn't really be that hard....right? What ensues is great sexual tension as both try to fight of the attraction between them. What makes it even worse is Boomerang is a new dating site for people looking for something that might not be an eHarmony love match but more of a date with possibilities *wink wink*. Mia and Ethan are working in marketing and are assigned to go on `Dates' as field research.

I learned something important today: I must read author bios more closely when I do promo posts. Why? you may ask. What does this have to do with Boomerang? I HAD NO IDEA NOELLE AUGUST WAS REALLY VERONICA ROSSI AND ANOTHER AUTHOR WRITING TOGETHER. Ok, now I feel better.

Seriously, I loved this book. It was everything I could want in a new adult book. It was sassy and sexy, sweet and funny. When Mia awakens naked with total(ly gorgeous) stranger Ethan, she doesn’t remember the details of how they met or what they did together. She also doesn’t know that things are about to get a whole lot more interesting for both of them as they realize that not only their internships are with the same company, but that they’re competing for a coveted position within Boomerang.

Boomerang might be a dating company, but they have a strict policy that forbids coworkers from dating each other. So no matter the attraction and chemistry they shared, a relationship of any kind between Mia and Ethan is out of the question while they’re both interning with Boomerang. The full-time job that’s up for grabs is something both characters desperately want/needs, so they’re willing to try to put a cap on their attraction and see what happens. Of course, the more they work together, the more difficult it is to resist each other – and it’s even harder to watch the other person go on the requisite dates with Boomerang clients. Things were bound to begin to get messy.

Mia and Ethan were absolute GOLD together. Not only did they have the sassy and sarcastic banter I love in books like this, but they complemented each other perfectly. I thoroughly enjoyed watching their relationship grow as they spent more time together for work.

I tried to hold off on reading this one as long as I could, but seeing all the amazing reviews and letting my eyes keep drifting to that amazing cover, I knew I didn't really have a choice. I finally got one free second and I devoured it.
Mia and Ethan spent one night together and secretly plan many more. That is until they see that they work together. At a place that they find out has a strict no dating policy. Add on to the fact that they are competing for a job that they were both promised... Yeah, no bueno. They go through so much to avoid each other, that it keeps bringing them right back together. And it doesn't matter where they are, the time they spend together is ELECTRIC.
I LOVED Ethan. He was so sweet and he seemed to be the perfect man. I wanted to reach inside Boomerang and take him out to have a real life copy of him. He really took great care of Mia. Even when he didn't know he was trying. Which I think makes him one of the best book boys ever. Being amazing while not trying is adorable. As for Mia, she is one impulsive chick. I'm not going to lie though, for a minute there she kind of got on my nerves after that one stunt she pulled, but gradually, I got over it. Overall, she was super smart, innovative, and super creative. And having a degree in broadcast production, I LOVED that she was a film maker.
Mia and Ethan together were a different story. They were magic together. But, you won't see that until the end of the novel. Most of the book is spent trying to keep their distance from each other. But I won't lie and say that they succeed. There are some times they slip up and find themselves in the arms of each other and I can't tell you how much I had to put the book down for a little bit. Ethan is super hot and so sweet with Mia.
