YES! Fantastic Looper!,

I'm updating this review after updating the firmware. It now is fully functional. If you want a basic easy looper, get one of the simple Boss or Digitech pedals. If you want a POWERFUL and FLEXIBLE looper, get this one. The company is small (this is no mega corporate schtick), the looper sounds fantastic, built like a tank, and it has a surprisingly small footprint. You can read the manual on the company website to read about how many incredible and innovative features this looper has, but I personally love the ability to customize the buttons, play separate loops of different lengths, and set up a master loop (usually one measure "click" track) and then slave other loops to it. You can set it up to do about whatever you want. The only drawback is that it won't record loops within the unit, but thats isn't what it is designed for; its designed for serious live looping and flying without a net. I laugh in the face of danger! Ha! Ha! Ha!
This is a pedal designed by guitarists for guitarists. But I use it for guitar, sax, and vocal (you can use the Rang's stereo as two mono split channels!). Five stars!! Highly recommended!!!

This really is an awesome looper. You gotta read the manual and play around with it for a while to get it customized for your playing style but after all is done this thing is awesome! Like the other review said... go to the website and read the manual to find out what all it can do because it would make this review too long if I went into it here.
Anyway, I used to own the Boomerang II many years ago and this thing does all that one did plus way more. One of the greatest features I love about this new model compared to the old one is that on the old one if you wanted to 'stack' on top of a loop and messed up you had to re-record the original loop, then do the stacking again. On this one you can erase the stack without having to redo the original loop. Another thing I really like about this model compared to the old is that it is much smaller and takes up much less of that precious pedalboard space. One thing I don't like as much about this model compared to the old one is, ironically, its size. Its size is great footprint-wise but with it being this small it puts the foot-buttons too close together where you have to do precision toe pointing button clicking. The old version you could just stomp the buttons and never worry about accuracy. I personally think that having to be so precise with the button clicking makes it a little trickier to click the buttons perfectly in tempo. Its not bad once you get used to it but I wish they would have put the buttons a little further apart from one another. Overall, this is a great product from a great company!

Great Looper, Heavy Price Tag,
This review is from: Boomerang Boomerang III Phrase Loop Sampler
After researching and using multiple loopers including the Digitech JamMan and the Boss Rc-20, Boomerang's amazing loop pedal stood out to me as the clear cut winner. With the myriad of effects and possibilities built into this thing, the 'rang III is truly a monster. I don't want to delve into specifics; however, it is worth noting that unlike the JamMan and Rc-20, the 'rang can generate up to FOUR separate loops of different length-- a feature found only on the looper too large to fit in a guitar case, the Boss Rc-50. The ability to have multiple loops of different lengths is truly awesome; it gives me the ability to make dreamy soundscapes, layered solos, and even entire songs with just one pedal! This thing is also stereo, so plugging in a microphone or ipod app or ANYTHING to either the L or R channel is a breeze, and makes for even more possibilities and diversity in your sound. The 'rang has a tiny footprint (its surprisingly small), great sound (better than the JamMan and Rc-20), and sturdy buttons with good give and release.
I am not giving the 'rang III 5 stars because, for the money, this pedal could have done a little more. Making loops on it takes precision, for unlike the JamMan and Rc-20, the 'rang does not quantize (or digitally correct) your loops. This can get tricky, but with some practice the absence of quantization is not too bothersome. Overall, if you are looking for a looper that gives inspiration, hours of fun, and does more than just create a custom backing track, the 'rang is the best thing on the market. |
