Sticking to the Script!!!,
By
This review is from: Boomerang: Original Soundtrack Album (Audio CD)
This was the era of conceptual soundtracks. Once you hear the selections you instantly remember the movie itself. The music and songwriting is so infectious, due to the combination of great artist such as Babyface, Toni, Keith Washington, BoyzIIMen, and sticking to the emotions of the script.
The cohesiveness of Face and Toni Braxton starts this disc off very strong with the feel good upbeat "Give U My Heart" (sexy & submissive). "Tonight Is Right" had every guy working on getting their sound system real sweet at home and tweaking the lights perfectly to woo that lady just as vintage Eddie Murphy has done in the flick. The airy "I'd Die Without You" is phenomenal while "End Of The Road" is probably the biggest slow jam of the early 90's. It was the classic end of the night song at the skating rink (couples only-backwards skating). The sensual "Feels Like Heaven" is very hot, yet another classic slow jam tape essential. Newcomer Toni Braxton puts it down on "Love Shoulda Brought You Home", the performance was very seasoned. It portrayed so much conviction reminding us that the things that we have right at home . . . most often are the best things (especially if Halle lives there). As a real boomerang's flight comes back full circle, I hope that our music someday return back to its moments of truth (Music with substance). Until then I feel good that I can always select the Boomerang soundtrack in itunes and reminisce on those days. A must-have CD for music lovers of 90's R&B

An outstanding journey into early 90's soul,

Babyface was just making inroads as one of the most prolific (and profitable) songwriters of all time, and this disc shows his talent at its best. Featuring such then-chart-toppers as Aaron Hall, Johnny Gill, P.M. Dawn, Grace Jones, Shanice, and the up-and-coming Toni Braxton, the album showcases where R & B was at the start of the decade."Boomerang" is ear candy and a perfect fit for one's musical time capsule.

Whenever I get nostalgic for the early nineties I listen to this cd. Brings back awesome memories. Nice soulful compilation of various artists. A little gem from Shanice rounds off what is a great compilation.

What a great soundtrack to a good movie. The most effective song on this album to me was "I'd Die Without You" by PM Dawn. I find it to be a great ballad and touching song and "End Of The Road" by Boyz II Men is pretty good too. Toni Braxton and Shanice provide somewhat good songs on here but nothing rememerable. All in all a great soundtrack and is worth the money.

This soundtrack is good. I didn't really care for a couple of songs on the soundtrack though. My favorite song on the album is "Give U My Heart" by Babyface featuring Toni Braxton. This song is a great duet and its nice to jam to. Some of the other songs I enjoyed are Boys II Men's "End Of The Road" and Toni Braxton's "Love Should Have Brought You Home". I give this Soundtrack 3 stars.

The first major LaFace project...,

The production duo of L.A. and Babyface, alongside Daryl Simmons continued to storm the airwaves throughout the early '90s thanks to projects like this one. They manage to bring such successful pop-like tunes like "Give U My Heart," which features Babyface and the introduction of Toni Braxton. The LaFace Cartel's "Reversal of a Dog," and A Tribe Called Quest's "Hot Sex," continue the dance floor surge on this album. However, the heartfelt ballads take the cake, with the highlight being Boyz II Men's record-breaking hit, "End of The Road." P.M. Dawn's "I'd Die Without You," and Toni Braxton's "Love Shoulda Brought You Home," are also notable tracks. Featuring the production of LaFace on 7 of the 12 songs, this is sure to be one of the best soundtracks of the early '90s...

This album features great tunes - some aren't so good, but of the 12, I'd say 9 are very good - it's worth buying for track 3 alone - for those of you who've seen the film, it's the slow track he puts on before letting the women into his apartment! All round, a good buy - I'd give it 4.5 stars.
