From School Library Journal
YA-To most Westerners, the boomerang is little more than a toy, a curiosity or a souvenir to purchase when visiting Australia. But for many cultures throughout the ages, the ability to use this instrument has meant the ability to control life and death. For more than 10,000 years, it has been used for hunting and fishing, fighting, producing music, and as a sacred object in religious ceremonies. Numerous boomerangs were found in King Tut's tomb. This book is a wonderful way to help young adults explore Aboriginal culture, learn about aerodynamics, and familiarize themselves with Australian geography.-John Kiefman, Fairfax County Public Library, VA
