5.0 out of 5 stars A change can be a good thing
Although different from her first three cd's, I think that this cd is nice. However, this has more of a folk feel than of a techno beat. If you are are a huge Stacey Q fan, than this is a CD for you. However, if you are just beginning to Listen to Stacey Q, I suggest listening to some of her earlier records to get in touch with Stacey Swain the "singer". Some of these...

However, if you are just beginning to Listen to Stacey Q, I suggest listening to some of her earlier records to get in touch with Stacey Swain the "singer". Some of these CD's include: Better than Heaven, Hard Machine, and Nights like This. You can also check out the Return of the Living Dead movie soundtrack, she performs the last two tracks. Stacey is also rumored to release a new CD titled Stardust. I hope all of this was helpful to someone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stacey Q Excells, April 27, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Boomerang (Audio CD)
Stacey Q's 5th solo album "Boomerang" is not what one would expect from this artist. Whilst her previous albums were dance/pop oriented, this album takes a complete change to a more mellow, and extremely catchy "hippie" feel. It's great! The only thing this album lacks is the usual, really bad b-side song. All the songs are great and totally suited to Stacey's sweet, high voice. I totally recommend this album to anyone with eardrums.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best, August 20, 2001

I'm in love with Stacey's music for almost 15 years and this album stands as my favorite CD of her. Forget about Stacey queen of the dance floor, anthemic club songs as "Two of Heart" or "We Connect". Boomerang is totally different, more country-influenced, with a rich variety of music: pop, rock, and more. Stacey put her heart into this effort and the result is breathtaking and heavently. One of the rare CD I can listen to over and over. Definitly one of the best CD ever and Stacey's best work to date. BUY IT NOW

4.0 out of 5 stars I..I..I..I Need Q, October 16, 2000

After reading some of the other reviews, my expectations were low for this cd, but I was pleasantly suprised! The problem with the other reviewers is they were expecting another "Two of Hearts." You won't find anything like it here and I suspect that was Stacey's intention as she chose not to use her longtime producer, Jon St.James. While none of the tracks on this cd are likely to send you running to the dance floor(except maybe "Never Stop" with the right remixes), this is probably her best album lyrically. This cd fuses many different types of music, including rock, alternative, pop and even country.("Love On" could have done well on country radio.) The best tracks include the "title cut," "Tenderness," "Never Stop," and her cover of "My Sweet Lord."

If you want something to dance or work out to, get Stacey's "Better Than Heaven" cd. If you are open minded and want something different, give this cd a try. In all honesty, Stacey probably should have used her real name, Stacey Swain to avoid having to live up to or live down(which ever way you want to look at it) her "dance diva" past. All things considered, this was a good attempt at a comeback. With the a major label release and the right promotion, she might have succeeded.

4.0 out of 5 stars Boomerang proves stacey q is back but changing., December 5, 1999

I wasn't quite sure how stacey Q would sound in the late 90's after recording better than heaven,in 1986,her music tailed off although "the river" and"incognito" were fantastic records, I didn't enjoy boomerang as much as"better than heaven LP" but it was good to see she wasn't trying to be the same dancepop diva of 1986. This recording reminds me of most recent CD by susanna hoffs,Boomerang proves stacey Q is back but changing. not at the level of her peak, but not far off, hopefully she continues to record music.

3.0 out of 5 stars Worth Buying, January 29, 2002
This review is from: Boomerang (Audio CD)
I admit that I feel Boomerang is not as good as Swain's first, Better than Heaven, but I have no regrets about the purchase. The first two tracks--including the title track--make her voice sound reedy and weak instead of using its beautiful clarity, but the remainder of the CD is at least competent and often very good. "Tara" in particular has a calm, dreamy quality reminiscent of Donna Summer's song "Lucky." Many of the songs have a definite retro sound and the overall effect is odd but pleasantly interesting. This is very much a departure from previous Stacey Q efforts, and I must applaud Swain for stepping forward instead of trying to record a clone with a new name.

Her cd's of the 80's are great: Playback, Better Than Heaven, Hard Machine, Nights Like This, and a few others. NIghts Like This is in my top 20 favorite CD's of all time as far as synth pop goes. Boomerang is nice but by no means is it her greatest work. It has a folksy feel with some catchy tunes but for someone whos been in the musiz biz for so long I would have thought her writing skills would be stronger by now but instead the cd is a collection of personal musings with a very mellow touch. Where's the old energetic Stacey from the past? Is she getting old now?? :) Well, this cd is one for die hard fans I think, if you really want to hear classic Q, get her Greatest Hits CD from Thump. It's great. At any rate she's still the synth pop Diva of all time so I hope she keeps making cd's, but next time in a dance style. Shes' the original Kylie.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bitter fans beware, you may deep down really enjoy this cd.., July 17, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Boomerang (Audio CD)
Despite what the above reviewers claim, this is a good and honest pop/rock cd. Straying from her infamous "dance" sound, Stacey creates an album that is full of harmonies and a more alternative sound. There are a few throw away tracks, but for the most part this cd is really enjoyable. Standout tracks include "Never Stop" "My Sweet Lord" & "Holding On To The Earth."

1.0 out of 5 stars Not My Stacey Q, August 3, 2009

I have admired Stacey Q since I was 15 years old.(38 now). I was anxious to get this CD and when it came in I hate to admit that I was completetly disapointed. I never considered her to be this great singer but I loved her soley because she was fun, dancy, maybe somewhat soultry with "Don't Make A Fool Of Yourself". Perhaps I'm just a diso-queen at heart but no matter what I will continue to listen to "Love or Desire" "Nights Like This" and "Too Hot For Love" 'till the day I die. Still love you, Miss Q
