This is by far my favorite opener.

The huge plus of a boomerang corkscrew is that you can, within 1.5 seconds, cut through the foil above the cork without turning the bottle.

I've been using the wine key for about a month now...it's working great...I love the leverage of the wide handle, and it's very well made.

I work an extremely busy service bar, opening easily 200+ btls of wine in the two shifts a week I bartend...so I needed something that was going to last. I also wanted something that if the knife-less foil cutter broke had a real knife ready as back up. I've been using the wine key for about a month now...it's working great...I love the leverage of the wide handle, and it's very well made. I see it lasting about a year, year and a half...where most last about 6 months...I would recommend this to those of you that do not like the hinged openers.

I've had several of these boomerang style corkscrews in the past. Working nights at a wine bar, I open about 20 bottles/ night with these. None of the corkscrews, including this one, has a double hinge arm. That's fine by me, I never liked the double hinge as much as the single piece leverage arm. Maybe that's because I'm used to opening bottles regularly, perhaps. The huge plus of a boomerang corkscrew is that you can, within 1.5 seconds, cut through the foil above the cork without turning the bottle. This is very cool, considering professional tableside service requires the label of the bottle to face the guest the entire time you are uncorking. Not to say you cannot do this with a traditional wine key, but it will take longer with a tad of fidgeting, while the Boomarang wine key makes it so effortless and quick, with an exacting, clean cutline around the glass

The Boomarang wine keys I've had in the past had two very limiting flaws:
the first was that there was no knife. Even though the Boomerang mechanism itself is great at cutting through foil, there are always instances where you'll need a knife, for example bottles of sparkling that have thick foil around the neck, or any number of other instances where a knife would be ideal. This boomerang has a perfectly sized knife which always comes in handy table side.
The second flaw of previous boomerangs was that the actual boomerang opening to place over the foil of a bottle was always a fixed diameter, which worked great for most 750 mL bottles, but was always hit/miss with bigger bottles. Even some 750s had a thicker mouth that the Boomarang would not fit over, and without a knife, where utterly useless in the moment.

been bartending seven years. used countless tools. probably every type out there. this one is by far the best in my book. even though the "foilkut" circular foil cutter works well, i don't use it because i believe the foil should be cut a little lower (just below the collar or "finish"). that aside, it still has the best knife i've used; it's large, serrated, and sharp enough to leave a nice clean cut.

very durable product as well. i've opened hundreds of bottles with this opener and it still feels new. hinge doesn't wear out and get flimsy like those girly "two-step" openers.

i've paid twice the price for this same opener in stores. definitely worth it.

This is by far my favorite opener. I had a similar one for years and it broke. I ordered 3 this time, one as a gift, and the quality is better than the one I bought years ago. The foil cutter is especially easy to use, but there's also a blade if you want to be more traditional. I'm going to buy a bunch more for Christmas presents.
