4.0 out of 5 stars excellent sugar-dance songs from three Canadian mix artists
I first heard of them halfway through their first US release, Squeeze Toy, on Hot 100.3 FM here in DFW. Caught my attention right away. Sounded sugary like 'Barbie Girl' (Aqua) but with more of a western sound. Highly addictive. Spent an entire night flipping between two stations (and passing up on some good songs) waiting for it to come on. Can't wait until I...

The remake of Billy Idol's "Dancing With Myself" is your typical funny dance remake, they also remake Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time" and the classic rock song "Bang A Gong". Those on the other hand, are not good. But, the reason why I bought this was because of "Popcorn". It's a cool song (the music sounds a little bit too...

I love this CD especially the the Remake Of bothsides now which was ORIGINALY done by the TOKENS on their album Called both Sides now. But If U like this Music it also Recomended u take a look at a few other bands that sound alike Such as Roller-Girl, Daze, Aqua, Toy-Box. These are probably the best bands around that sing like the Boomtang boys

5.0 out of 5 stars WICKED! 1, December 10, 1999

"DANCING WITH MYSELF" IS THE BEST SONG ON THIS CD. IT IS REALLY REALLY GOOD TO DANCE TO! "POPCORN" IS REALLY GOOD TOO. THERE ARE 2 HIDDEN TRACKS ON THAT CD. A REMIX OF "POPCORN" AND ANOTHER SONG. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT IT IS CALLED. "MON JOUJOU" IS A FRENCH VERSION OF "SQUEEZE TOY". OVERALL, THIS CD IS AWESOME! I RECOMMEND IT TO ANY WHO LIKES THE BOOMTANG BOYS!

hey, ever since i heard "squeeze toy" by kim esty on the radio, fell in love with it. i love the rhythm, the beat, and the lyrics, especially the lyrics! some people may find it corny and annoying, but I LOVE IT! i just wish they'd play the song more on the radio. i'm even thinking on dedicating this song to my #1 squeeze toy! ;) (chris, if you're out there reading this right now, i love you, baby! )

5.0 out of 5 stars VERY VERY PLEASANT POP!, December 15, 2000
This review is from: The Boomtang Boys: Greatest Hits Vol. 1 (Audio CD)
This is one of those rare albums where every track is good. The music is lively, the various singers are actually talented, and all songs have a different sound despite being produced by the same producers.

It's not quite a dance album, although these are dance tracks. The arrangements are too "fluffy" and the beats aren't booming enough for the dancefloors, even if extended versions were available. Aside from the cover versions (Dancing With Myself, Time After Time, Both Sides Now, amongst others), the original material is good and pleasant. Two of my favorites are "I Was A Fool" and "Squeeze Toy" which was a major hit in Canada -- the inclusion of the French version "Mon Joujou" on the Canadian pressing is a nice little surprise.

For someone looking for a nice, inoffensive, "quiet" dance album, this is it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Title of Hidden Track 14, October 11, 2000

I actually really liked this album. It's fluff, but it's well done fluff. The last (hidden)track is "Both Sides Now", which I believe was originally done by Joni Mitchell, or at least she has the most well known version of it. I think it's been redone about 20 times, but I really like this new version.

Those on the other hand, are not good. But, the reason why I bought this was because of "Popcorn". It's a cool song (the music sounds a little bit too much like Daft Punk though). The remix of "Popcorn" (track 12) isn't nearly as good as the original. Overall, it's worth buying for "Popcorn" & "Dancing With Myself".

I really don't have anything to say except the songs are awesome and I hope they make a volume two sometime in the future. The Boomtang Boys were kind of a fab but now the fab has ended and I still like their music.
