From the Manufacturer

When first-time eaters start using utensils, their motor skills are not fully developed. Benders adaptable utensils were designed to help make the transition to regular utensils a little easier. Parents can position the adjustable end to the perfect angle to accommodate the child¿s grip. As motor skills develop, adjust little by little, until straightened.

Product Description

It's okay to get bent out of shape. Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to get the food in their mouth. And Benders are your secret weapon. While your child is learning how to use utensils, Benders can be positioned to accommodate any grip in any direction. And that means food arrives at its intended destination.

My toddler wants to eat food by herself now, and so with these utensils its easier to teach her how to do it. the bendable spoon and fork works great.

The bend in the spoon makes it so much easier for her to get the food to her mouth.

If your baby is big enough to be using utensils himself/ herself, then these are too small. These were great for my baby before age one when I was feeding him and he was just playing with the utensils, but after he was attempting to use them to feed himself, the heads of these were too frustratingly small. He wanted more on the spoon/fork than these will hold. They're about the size of a dime.

I'd say it's useful if you're trying to get your 8-12 month old to hold a spoon/fork himself, but after that, it's not useful.

These were a great size for my 1 yr old to start eating with. The fork was easily used and really did stab things and get them up to his mouth. The spoon was also a good size.

However, kids don't only use one hand all the time, so I found the good idea of bending kind of silly once executed.

Putting them in the dishwasher caused them to become discolored. They are no longer white and blue but beige and faded.

I bought a whole bunch of toddler-sized utensils for learning purposes. These are the favorite so far.

- size: people complain they're small, but let me tell you... my toddler can get a huge, messy bite onto this spoon and, slowly but surely, is successfully getting that bite to her mouth. The spoon is shallow, but we're still working mostly with foods that stick to the spoon a little, like yogurt, applesauce and the like.

- safety: she can explore fork function without any risk of actually stabbing things or herself. Mostly she places bits of fruit onto the fork part.

- bendability: these not only bend left/right but up/down so they've been great for helping her figure out how to feed herself.

- quality/durability: despite the low cost, they're very nicely made and are holding up well. Once she figured out she could bend them herself, there were a few days when the spoon got very abused but it's no worse for wear.

She will grow out of them quickly, yes, because they are so small. But for a real beginner set these were worth the money.

These are a good size as far as length and handle circumference. I also like that the ends are bendable to adjust to children who tend to eat with their left or right hand. Now for the flaws that make them a poor product, in my opinion...The size of the spoon and fork ends renders them almost unusable. The spoon scoop is so small and shallow that food doesn't stay in the spoon. The fork has been designed down to be 'safe' so that it can't actually stab anything. My son enjoyed carrying these around (they fit nicely in his hands). But he rarely was successful in eating with the assistance of these that they really didn't do anything to advance his skills. We ditched them after just a few uses. Also, the soft rubber (silicone?) piece around the outer part of the utensils is peeling away. I don't know if my son picked at it, but they weren't used many times and are already showing signs of damage. For reference my son was using these when he was about 14-15 months old and really just starting to try to use utensils.

I bought these at a local store that has design-y baby stuff. Well I just gave it to my 19 month old and noticed that he was chewing and biting the tip of the handle. When I took it away from him and looked at it, a whole bunch of the plastic was chewed away, nowhere to be found. I'm assuming he swallowed it. I never noticed it before - he must've been chewing on it every time I let him use this spoon. I threw it out.

This is a bad product. It looks fun but if your baby teethes at some point, which they all do, s/he will chew on it and the plastic will come off.

Other than that - the fork is absolutely useless, and the pair are both too bendy so that it becomes a toy rather than useful.

We love these utensils!! We custom "bend" them for our son and he can feed himself with little mess...well little mess for a 15 month old. We also like that they can be straightened for when he is a "big boy." Great Product!

I should have read the reviews! These stained within a few uses (and we are OCD clean freaks) I expected more from Boon. Also as others state the size of the spoon/ fork parts are pretty small and useless for a baby over 1 learning to feed him/herself...which was the whole reason we bought these. Very disappointing!!

I'm doing Baby-Led Weaning with my little guy, and he loves to feed himself soup or oatmeal with spoons, but he always seems to turn them sideways and spill the content when he grasps the handles on normal baby spoons.

I watch his eating pattern for a few bites, then just twist the bowl of the spoon to match. My 8-month-old can feed himself with this spoon, and he's absolutely thrilled with himself whenever he does.

It's run through the dishwasher several times now, as well, with no damage or loss of function.
