waste of money,

Don't bother. The suction on this has nothing on my child, and the extra "catcher" is basically an added grip point for the kids to toss across the room.

This item is not a spill catcher and the suction bottom doesn't hardly suction at all! My 16 month old pulled the suction bowl right off. I guess it could be for 2-3 year olds, but not for small toddlers.

It is NOT dishwasher safe (although it says that it is) the food catcher warped on the top shelf of my dishwasher the first time it was washed. It also never stuck to the high chair tray, even right out of the package when I tried it out...my daughter just picked it right up and threw it (by the food catcher). Maybe it should have been a bit more kid tested and dishwasher tested as well.

The first time I put it in the dishwasher it would no longer stick to anything. Ended up in the trash.

Catches Spills,
By Holly W "New Mommy Oasis" (Dana Point, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Boon Catch Bowl - Toddler Bowl with Spill Catcher in Orange/Blue (Baby Product)
Pros: food catcher, perfect size for toddler portions, dishwasher safe, BPA free
Cons: the food catcher can be used as a handle to throw the bowl Review: The concept is brilliant. When a toddler is still mastering the use of a fork and spoon food often spills on the way from the bowl to her mouth. The idea of something `catching' that is wonderful. This bowl may look a little funny but it does exactly what it sets out to do- it catches food that doesn't make it into your child's mouth en route from the bowl to her mouth. When I first used this with my daughter she saw the `catcher' portion as a handle in which to throw the bowl. I had to swap out the bowl the first two times. The catcher was a distraction as well since it juts out toward the child. However, after using it a few times she got used to it being there and we now use it a few times a week with no trouble at all. It has caught globs of oatmeal and is my favorite bowl to use when feeding my daughter cold cereal. I wash this bowl in the dishwasher after each use and have had no problems with it warping or not suctioning. Overall, I think it is a good addition to your child's tableware. [...]

Although great concept...it doesn't stick to her tray on the high chair. Not something I would feel easy about taking my hand from without thinking it may get tossed to the floor.

Like the previous reviewer, I put mine in the top of the dishwasher, only to watch it become warped. I also find that while it minimizes messes, the suction cup doesn't hold as well as I would prefer.
Nice try but not a great product.

Wonderful bowl for my toddler,
This review is from: Boon Catch Bowl - Toddler Bowl with Spill Catcher in Orange/Blue (Baby Product)
I've had this bowl for 2 years and I still use it with my son, who is now 3. The suction is super-strong on mine, even at age 3 he is unable to move the bowl when I put it down in front of him. If he wants to adjust its location, he needs to ask me to do it for him. We've always put ours in the dishwasher (top rack only) and it is still in perfect shape after 2 years. I'm shocked at the bad reviews. This is my favorite bowl - the first bowl I reach for when I get into the cupboard. I try to make sure it's always clean because I use it multiple times a day.

Good "Training" Bowl for Toddlers,

This review is from: Boon Catch Bowl - Toddler Bowl with Spill Catcher in Orange/Blue (Baby Product)
I have just started using this bowl for my 19-month-old toddler, and it works well. The suction cup seems pretty strong to me - but we use it on the Boon Flair high chair trays, so the surface may be more amenable to the suction cup than other high chair trays. In any case, my daughter isn't a "throw the bowl," type - she just needs some help stabilizing her bowl while she masters the use of utensils. This bowl is a nice size (we had been using Bunch-A-Bowls w/ Lids - 4 pk), and the sides are sloped enough that the food slides down toward the middle, making it easier for my child to get it on a spoon/fork. The spill catcher lip is minimally effective, but it doesn't bother her.
