Great plate!,
By Catherine L (Queens, NY) - See all my reviews

Yes, this plate can be picked up, but it's much harder to pick up than most and it won't slide around on the table. When we first tried using it my daughter (then 9 or 10 months) was also just interested in picking it up and dumping it, but we put it away for a little while and brought it back out when she was more interested in the food (11 or 12 months) and since then she hasn't done it anymore. I'm not sure if there are any plates out there that can truly deter a determined 10 month old! Since the profile is so low to the table and there's no rim for her to grab, she doesn't even think about it as long as she's got food. She only turns it over when it's empty. So for those of you who have had trouble, try with a slightly older baby. The size is great for a younger toddler, it's perfect for finger foods, the design is cute and it cleans up easily. I especially like the separated compartments and the price is great compared to many of the alternatives. We have two now.

Cute but useless,

I loved the style of this plate! However, my 2 year old has a very hard time "chasing" her food with the fork or spoon. Due to the short height and rounded edges all the food (specially like rice) ends out of the plate. I think it is nice for younger babies doing finger foods, but not good for training toddlers to use utensils.

Awesome for portioning!,
This review is from: Boon Saucer Slip Resistant Plate, Orange (Baby Product)
I have 3 of these plates and we love them. In my opinion, there really is no such thing as a plate that kids can't pick up or flip over, but this at least makes it a little more difficult. My daughter has never flipped it over, but she has slid it. I don't just plop her down to eat unsupervised so she doesn't have the chance to physically chew the rubber ring off like some reviewers mentioned. We have ran them through the dishwasher countless times and they're good as new. We've also microwaved pasta on the white plates and there was no sauce staining whatsoever.
Lastly, the reason I really love this plate is that it has the three portioned areas. This not only keeps food separate, but also ensures - as parents - that you're giving your child a variety of foods. It's so easy to get into a rut and just give them what you know they like, or just give them one type of food, but this helps me with that. I put the main dish in the largest portion (eggs or pasta or meat or whatever) and then veggies in a smaller one, and something like fruit or yogurt or applesauce in the last one. 2115|R38O296DWQHS99;2115|R3RZQ5RLAXG1D0;2115|R3PX1FFF17N793;
