Great plate!,

This review is from: Boon Saucer Slip Resistant Plate (Baby Product)
Yes, this plate can be picked up, but it's much harder to pick up than most and it won't slide around on the table. When we first tried using it my daughter (then 9 or 10 months) was also just interested in picking it up and dumping it, but we put it away for a little while and brought it back out when she was more interested in the food (11 or 12 months) and since then she hasn't done it anymore. I'm not sure if there are any plates out there that can truly deter a determined 10 month old! Since the profile is so low to the table and there's no rim for her to grab, she doesn't even think about it as long as she's got food. She only turns it over when it's empty. So for those of you who have had trouble, try with a slightly older baby. The size is great for a younger toddler, it's perfect for finger foods, the design is cute and it cleans up easily. I especially like the separated compartments and the price is great compared to many of the alternatives. We have two now.

I loved the style of this plate! However, my 2 year old has a very hard time "chasing" her food with the fork or spoon. Due to the short height and rounded edges all the food (specially like rice) ends out of the plate. I think it is nice for younger babies doing finger foods, but not good for training toddlers to use utensils.

Awesome for portioning!,
This review is from: Boon Saucer Slip Resistant Plate, Orange (Baby Product)
I have 3 of these plates and we love them. In my opinion, there really is no such thing as a plate that kids can't pick up or flip over, but this at least makes it a little more difficult. My daughter has never flipped it over, but she has slid it. I don't just plop her down to eat unsupervised so she doesn't have the chance to physically chew the rubber ring off like some reviewers mentioned. We have ran them through the dishwasher countless times and they're good as new. We've also microwaved pasta on the white plates and there was no sauce staining whatsoever.
Lastly, the reason I really love this plate is that it has the three portioned areas. This not only keeps food separate, but also ensures - as parents - that you're giving your child a variety of foods. It's so easy to get into a rut and just give them what you know they like, or just give them one type of food, but this helps me with that. I put the main dish in the largest portion (eggs or pasta or meat or whatever) and then veggies in a smaller one, and something like fruit or yogurt or applesauce in the last one.

Excellent first plate for babies learning to self feed,

I purchased this saucer plate to use with my 10 month old who has been showing interest in starting to feed herself and it has worked beautifully. The plate has a very low profile so it sits very flat on the table - this is nice because, while it can still be lifted, it's much harder to do so. The sections have nice, low and smooth rounded sides, which makes scooping food out quite easy for her. It also has a great, rubbery bottom edge which keeps it from sliding around a lot while she scoops, which means she has good success while self-feeding.
Overall, Boon has created a beautifully designed plate, which works wonderfully and is really helping to facilitate self-feeding. It is also BPA, PVC and Phthalate Free, which is very important to me. I love it and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a simple first plate for baby.

Boon saucer - works fine as a divider plate, doesn't prevent baby from picking up,

These divider plates (I have 2) are a great size for a toddler, and work very well as divider plates. The slip resistant feature is fine - I do appreciate that the plate doesn't slide around while my son is trying to use his fork and spoon. The plate's design certainly doesn't encourage babies to pick it up (as another plate I have does, with a lip that begs to be grabbed), but when my son decides he really wants to pick his plate up, it's easy enough for him to do it. So that feature is not terribly effective. But overall, a good plate, and definitely worth it for the sale price, maybe not for full price. The Boon suction bowl though is much better overall.

would return it if I could,
This review is from: Boon Saucer Slip Resistant Plate, Orange (Baby Product)
I just took the plate out of the wrapping, washed it, put it in front of my 9 month old daughter who proceeded to pick it up immediately and threw it on the floor. Very disappointing! We tried putting food in it, but she picked the plate up, with food, and had the ensemble drop off the table edge. Mind you, our table surface is smooth and clean and it should be difficult to move it, but since my daughter picks it up grabbing the compartment dividers, the non-skid ring doesn't help. I would not recommend this product. I give it one star for the looks, but it doesn't function as promised on the website.

This plate is really cute and it is a lot harder for my toddler to pick up than other plates (aka a lot harder to throw or to dump food out of), but the sections for food are really shallow. You can't get a lot of food onto it and for a big guy like I have, his meals are a lot bigger than this plate can accommodate. We use it for snacks and such.

Very small. Thats all i have to say.
I have a one year old petite girl and the plate is not big enough for her meal...the price is right about three dollars and free shipping with A. Prime. Which made it worth it. But the "slip resistant" claim is not all that. it does slip if you slap it...oh yeah my daughter loves to do it. for the price it is ok, but don't expect too much use out of this little plate. I really like this brand, because things are modern, simple, and the price is affordable, but this is just a piece of plastic with a type of rubber under it to reduce slip. Think about it...

Not as advertised,

My 12 month old immediately picked this dish up with one hand the first time I used it. She also pushes it around her high chair tray a lot. I only kept the plate because the divided sections come in handy. However, we have much less expensive divided dishes that are better. Although I really wanted to like this plate, it was not worth the money.

small and space-wasting,
By Jennah (CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Boon Saucer Slip Resistant Plate, Orange (Baby Product)
This is my last-reached for plate. I think the design around the bottom w/the grip is nice, and I've never had a problem with my daughter picking it up, but otherwise is a waste. The whole plate is small and the compartments are very small. There is a lot of wasted space on the plate because of the design. they probably could have used the same design at the base and yet changed the internal compartments and given you at least 4 separate spots for food (which is very important for a toddler who does not like different foods touching). And honestly, my toddler has an easier time getting food out of bowls or plates with straight sides rather than sloped, curving sides. I wouldn't buy this plate again.
