I purchased this item at my local baby mega-store when they had just put them out on the sales floor, on a whim. I had just begun feeding my 4 month old baby at the time and was frustrated with how messy it was. The design of this product is brilliant, and what I realized after its first use is that the reason traditional spoons are so messy for feeding a baby is because the underside of a spoon gets as much food on it as the "bowl" side of the spoon, and a baby does not know to use their bottom lip to swipe that food so that it stays in their mouth. With this spoon/device, the orange part is flexible silicone that holds more than 3 fluid ounces of baby food. The clear top screws on once you fill the "handle" with the puree food. At the tip of the clear part is a small well shaped baby spoon that has a hole leading to the inside of the "handle". When you invert the spoon, the food settles down to the clear part of the handle, and with a little squeeze by the adult, the perfect amount of food comes out into the "bowl" of the spoon. NO FOOD ON THE BOTTOM OF THE SPOON!!! It has been almost 2 months now, and feeding time is a joy at my home for adults as well as our baby. He honestly eats better because of the easy delivery. Also, since you don't keep dipping a contaminated spoon back into a baby jar, whatever food does not get eaten during feeding time can easily be transferred to a storage container and used at the next feeding. I purchased another one of these spoons so that I can feed an entree and a side item at each feeding. Brilliant Product!!!

Not good if you make your food,

the concept is great, though i give it 2 stars bc if you make your own baby food ANY BIT of chunk (even the slightest) will not fit through the squeeze whole. squeeze the spoon harder to force the clog through and you end up with a splattered mess all over your babies face! (which is good for a laugh the first time only) ;)

This is a fabulous spoon! Basically you stick the baby food in the spoon put the top on and go. So whether you're at the park the mall or a restaurant you just whip it out and you're ready to feed your little one!
For those that make your own food its super easy - just take it from what you have made and toss it in there. But if you are using store bought stuff you have to scoop it into the container (which can be a little bit of an extra step but really well worth it). I found that stage one and two foods come out of this quite easily. While it says it only holds 3 oz of food I've gotten 4oz jars of baby food into it. The hole is small so stage three foods are a little tougher but they still come out. Homemade stuff comes out if you puree it enough (not big chunks) and homemade yogurt (or the store bought stuff too!) comes out fantastic. Its so easy to keep your little one clean while out and about. Keeping the spoon itself clean is easy because the spoon head has a cap. And clean up after is fantastic just rinse it with hot water and all the food comes out!! I've never had to dig into it like I thought I would... I can't say enough great things about this. Its made life easier when we're out and about and its so darn adorable. It comes in pink & orange. Its easy to prepare use and clean...you cannot go wrong with this purchase!

I purchase this spoon on a whim, figuring we might find a use for it from time to time. Little did I know it would become our favorite feeding tool.
1) My daughter happily eats from it. She sometimes has trouble getting all the food out of the bowl of the spoon, but it hasn't prevented her from enjoying the experience. 2) It prevents you from contaminating the remaining food. As my daughter tries new things, it sometimes takes her a meal or five to actually eat even a small jar of the new food. This spoon allows you to feed your child without dipping a spoon into the jar and thus contaminating it. 3) It's easy to store. The snap-on cap over the spoon does a fantastic job of keeping the remaining food in the barrel. We just pop the cap on and store it in the door of our refrigerator. Just know that you will want more than one. We now have three so we can keep foods rotated throughout the day. It won't work for chunkier purees, but those first foods and smoother foods (applesauce, yogurt, etc) are fantastic in it.

Nice, but I prefer the competition's product,

The concept of this product is great, and if it were the only one of its kind, I'd recommend it without reservation. However, there's a similar, competing product (also sold by Amazon) that I prefer over this one. It's clear, so you can see how much food remains in the handle and/or whether you need to tap it to bring down any food stuck to the walls of the container. In addition, it has volume markings, which are especially useful for mixing cereal or monitoring portions. Also, the Boon Squirt is not as easy to squeeze as the competing model. Both models have the same drawbacks, which are that the spoons are (1) hard, and (2) a little large for the mouths of the younger babies for which they're made (older babies eat thicker/more textured food, which would not be compatible with these products).
To be sure, the Boon Squirt is a good product. It's great for feedings on the go, and is an excellent way to minimize messes. However, unless fun, bright colors are of paramount importance to you, there's another option that's got a little more functionality.

Not the best design,

When I found out about this spoon I was instantly sold. I have more than one baby and let me tell you - the feeding process is crazy and full of crying because I am not fast enough with my spoon skills. I can't seem to get the food into the mouths fast enough and so there is much crying as a result. I thought these spoons would help the situation because I would not need to scoop food from the bowl and then into the mouth - I could instead just hold the spoon there and "squirt". Well not really... The plastic of the spoon is very hard and it seems to hurt their gums. The squirt feature is all done by your hand squeezing so you have to be careful to squeeze just the right amount and at the right time- it is something you have to watch closely - so you can't effectively feed two babies at the same time (not an issue with people that own just one baby). The bowl of the spoon is way too deep and baby does not get all that is in the spoon - it tends to lead to overflow on an unsteady "squirt" and just makes more mess than it is worth. Well it looks like some poeple are giving these spoons a good review so it must work for some. Not for me. Sometimes the old fashioned method is truely the tried and tested way to go - so think hard about what you are spending your money on!

SPOON IS TOO BIG AND HARD,
This review is from: Boon Squirt Baby Food Dispensing Spoon in Orange (Baby Product)
I bought this product when my daughter was 4 months old because I thought it looked really easy and convenient to use. When I opened it, I noticed that the spoon was really huge and hard so I decided to wait and try it out when she got a little older and more used to eating from a spoon. She's 7 months old now and eating 2nd foods, so I decided to break it out and use it for the first time tonight. Normally she can eat an entire jar of 2nd foods in about 15 minutes with a regular infant spoon. When I offered her the food in this spoon, she had to open her mouth really wide just to fit the spoon in. It looked very uncomfortable. Then when she actually got it in her mouth, she couldn't get the food off the spoon because it is way too deep. She got about three bites halfway down (most of it drooled out onto her bib) before she started throwing a fit. After those three bites I decided to get a container and a spoon and do it the normal way. She finished the rest of the food in 10 minutes. Unless your baby has a gigantically huge mouth, I'd recommend the old fashioned way. That spoon is just too hard and huge. Not to mention it is very deep. My daughter is one of those babies who can't seem to wait for you to get the spoon to her mouth fast enough, so I thought this spoon would be perfect to start using since all you have to do is squeeze the bulb part. It took me ten minutes just to get her to take those three bites. I've been using the Munchkin Soft Bite Spoons since she started on her rice cereal. Those spoons are the perfect size and the tip is flexible and not too deep. She doesn't have to stretch her mouth open like Steven Tyler with those. The idea is perfect because the food actually does flow smoothly into the spoon when you squeeze the bulb part, making it extremely convenient and easy to use... I just wish they could have made the spoon part softer and not quite as huge and deep. Especially since you can only use it on 1st and 2nd foods. My daughter will be starting 3rd foods soon and I won't be able to use this spoon because the hole is too small for any food that is even slightly chunky (it kinda splurts out and splatters everywhere)... unless you don't mind sitting there with a toothpick to unclog it after every bite. My daughter doesn't have the patience for that!

Not worth it,
This review is from: Boon Squirt Baby Food Dispensing Spoon in Orange (Baby Product)
This is a novel idea, but I'm not sure it's in my child's best interest. If a baby starts solids when they should (somewhere around 6-10 months) then shouldn't they get to see mom dipping the spoon in the bowl and learning so that they soon will be able to do it for themselves? Just a thought.

It is a bit bulky in order to hold a full jar of baby food (4-5 oz). The squirting works very well, especially for liquid-y food. However, the rather deep spoon is very close to the tank, and in order to completely empty the spoon my baby had to bump his nose right into the tank. I don't know any solution to this problem, since a longer 'neck' would also mean a hard-to-clean food pipeline running through (right now there's a simple hole between tank and spoon).
I was enthusiastic when i saw the product the first time, but used it less than expected on a daily basis.

This spoon makes feeding solids so much easier! We got this through Amazon shortly after my son turned 4 months old. It is a lot less messy to feed him now, and you can control how much flow you want (be careful, squeeze too hard and you get a lot!). The spoon is very easy to clean and eliminates the need for any extra bowls. There's a cool cap that clips on nicely if you need to refrigerate any remaining food. However, avoid using chunky food in it, as it won't pass through well (if at all).
