4.0 out of 5 stars Solid Story But a Bit Too Familiar, April 28, 2010
This review is from: Booster Gold: Day of Death (Paperback)
"Day of Death" continues the republication of the Booster Gold series. Besides "The Day of Death" story which has Booster Gold bond with Dick Grayson and take a detour back in time and to the future, the collection also contains an excellent "Brave and Bold" story with Booster and Magog. There are a number of cameos here-some funny and some serious. It is a testimony to the writers and editors that they even include dour Teen Titans mainstay Raven on some of the laughs. Yet I can not say this is a great book. The chief problem is this seems a bit too familiar. Readers of Booster's adventures have seen this before. Even worse the chief bad guy is the Black Beetle who plagued Booster for more than a year. It's not a bad series by any means and Booster is an excellent lead. But this is slowly getting stale and this collection of comics is nowhere near as satisfying as "52 Pickup" or "Blue and Gold."

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Yet Again, June 10, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Booster Gold: Day of Death (Paperback)
I don't think anyone will ever be dissapointed with a volume in this series. It's all, and excuse the pun, just gold. In this one we see less emphasis on Skeets as a main character and the humor is played down a little to trade for a more serious serious story. The bran new caped crusader and his punky new sidekick, along with the younger Dick Grayson when he was still Robin (Booster is a time traveller after all) get to play such a major part that this really feels more like a Batman story with Booster Gold in it than the reverse, but it works wonderfully. We really see much more of an ensemble cast here, with Kyle Ranier, Donna Troy, and Raven all getting to play their parts. As always, a must read.
