Book Description

More horror from Troy Blackford, author of 'Strange Way Out,' 'For Those With Eyes to See,' 'Critical Incident,' and more. A combination of terrifying chills and ridiculous laughs so unusual that you'll be crying your eyes out with humor even as you cower under your sheets out of sheer dread for your imagination's sanity. Answers the question 'What's it like to be scared out of your wits while laughing yourself to the point of drooling?' with a resounding 'Very good, sir.'

"A great job entwining humor with sheer horror."
"The author has taken the genre of horror up several great notches."
"Absolute delight and perfection.... a truly enjoyable book."
"Seldom did I laugh so much while reading a story."
"Another surefire winner from Troy Blackford."
"A horror twist on P.G. Wodehouse."
"I laughed myself silly through this... horror tome."

On what seems to be a perfectly ordinary night, young Broderick 'Brodie' Booster flips on the evening news to find that New York City has been overrun by hundreds of thousands of reanimated corpses. After a visit from his previously dead Aunt Gertie, Booster and his manservant Reeves make a quick trip to a hardware store to outfit themselves with decent zomboidal defenses, and set out on a harrowing trek across town to confront the thieving maid responsible for the hordes of the undead.

Every step of the way, they encounter the unusual, the sinister, the depraved, and the hilarious. From irritable diva news reporters to crab-like zombies and arachnid pooches, things go from weird to worse. Without the help of the unflappable Reeves, the ditsy Brodie would have been munched for what there was of his brains long ago. But, even together, are they a match for the ancient evil fueling this dark 'Night of the Revenants?'

5.0 out of 5 stars So much zombiness!!! September 20, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This story is so much fun! The word play is excellent. Writing is crisp, witty and easy flowing. Characters are easy to get to know and definitely have their own personalities. The best part? The surprise ending. This was my first book to read by Troy. I was only half way through this free one when I purchased two others. He is THAT good.

Not one for zombies in general (my dreams have enough of those undead creepers to keep me on my sleeping toes), I nonetheless decided to check out Booster and Reeves because twitter told me to, and I do everything twitter says.
For once, twitter did not let me down, like it did that time it told me to do something called a "cinnamon challenge".
Seriously, buy the book. Then buy everything else Troy Blackford has put out. He's a blast to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Will NEVER See Zombies Like I Used To... October 10, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
How to stop a zombie apocalypse? I think the answer is cleverly divulged in Booster & Reeves: The Night of the Revenants by Troy Blackford, and if you can stop chuckling long enough to actually grasp the answer, it is all so simple, I have no idea why no one ever thought of it before!

Never have zombies been so irreverently described, fought and possibly beaten! Troy Blackford writes with wit, his tongue-in-cheek sense of humor is something to behold as he makes light of a serious situation. With colorful characters, such as Brodie Booster, the clueless wealthy "man-child" and his ever-present, ever-faithful, ever-patient, and thankfully ever-intelligent manservant, Reeves, the banter and dry humor rolls on and on.

Love zombies, but need a change of pace from the dark side? If zombie tales can have a bright side, Booster & Reeves: The Night of the Revenants is it!

5.0 out of 5 stars What ho, zombies? Are you mad? September 29, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I sincerely hope Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie read this book.

Any of you who've ever seen their wonderful versions of the P.D. Wodehouse books will immediately get the joke, in less time than it takes Bertie to down a tumbler of gin. All throughout this undead romp, I heard Fry's and Laurie's voices in my head with every line of dialogue from "Reeves" and "Booster." Of course, you don't have to be familiar with the comedy duo, or even Wodehouse, to enjoy this story, but it does add to the experience significantly.

Modern gadabout Booster can't be bothered to look outside of his FPS xbox games until zombies rise from their graves and his recently-deceased auntie barges in to demand that the wastrel DO something about all of it. Aided by his faithful manservant Reeves (in something along the lines of a 5% Booster to 95% Reeves ratio), Booster sets out into a city teeming with brain-munching corpses, and carnage and hilarity commence, by Jove!

There is satisfyingly bloody zombie-slaughter, eyerolling aplenty from Reeves, and stunningly blithe ignorance aplenty by young Booster. As a fan of the stories Mr Blackford is parodying, I jolly well laughed my bottom off continually. HIGHLY recommended for anyone familiar with Wodehouse, and a great read for anyone who just loves zombies.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Read! September 17, 2013

I must say I laughed myself all the way through this excellent novella! Blackford does a great job entwining humor with sheer horror. And of course, he always seems to surprise me at the end by throwing in a curveball I wasn't expecting. Way to go, Troy! Keep giving us more! :)

4.0 out of 5 stars A most enjoyable read. April 22, 2014

Do you like "Wooster & Jeeves" with Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry? P.G. Wodehouse? Do you like zombies? If yes, you will like this story by Troy Blackford. After the arrival of his recently departed Aunt Gertrude to his New York condo, Brodie Booster and his man Reeves must deal with an outbreak of the undead.

A fun, fast read and I hope there will be more adventures with Brodie and Reeves.

I could just picture Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry (from Jeeves and Wooster series) throughout the narrative of this book. It reads like Wodehouse; the author did an excellent job! Please do another....

This is pretty bizarre, but has a good story arc and is an entertaining diversion. Not quite your normal zombie novel, but then, what is?
