Some of the best sketch comedy I've ever heard,
By
This review is from: Boot to the Head (Audio CD)
I first heard the Frantics on their radio show, The Frantic Times, on the CBC stations we could pick up just south of the Canadian border. The Frantics were to radio what Saturday Night Live once was to television: hilarious sketch comedy that took excellent advantage of its medium. (Too bad the same can no longer be said of SNL.) In the Frantics' case, they used sound effects and verbal suggestion brilliantly. In many ways, this CD is most comparable to albums by Monty Python: it contains a wide variety of sketches and songs ranging from benign to outrageous. One of the more outrageous bits, "I S*** a Piece of Pie" startled me the first time I heard it, and then made me laugh out loud once it reached it's excellent punchline finish. Worshippers 'R' Us is an excellent take on "New Age" religion, while the Tae Kwon Leap sketch is a trademark piece that has gotten a lot of airplay on the Dr. Demento show. This album is just plain funny; but, like many of the Monty Python albums, it is not recommended for "sensitive listeners."

FRANTIC FOR THE FRANTICS,

This review is from: Boot to the Head (Audio CD)
I first heard the Frantics on the Wildly popular Dr. Demento show, I have scoured the record stores for anything I could find released by this off beat comedy troupe from Canada. This is some of the best sketch comedy I have heard in a looong time! I have to maintain composure while listening to this in the car or I would loose control from laughing so hard! There was only one other album released by the Frantics titled by "The Frantics" although sadly , it is out of print. I Highly reccomend this to anyone who likes to laugh :)

Comedic Genius,
By A Customer
This review is from: Boot to the Head (Audio CD)
I'm a long time Frantics fan. Used to enjoy their Saturday radio show on CBC...later went on to enjoy "4 on the floor" their brilliant but doomed tv show (who watch's tv saturday afternoons?)Their comedy is unique: high brow yet demented...Kids in the Hall fans will definitely see their influence. Rick Green is currently doing brilliant things on a show called "History Bites"...look for it...
