Alien March is just another standard run and gun (and jump) game for the Android OS.

Too bad the controls are wonky - hitting jump or fire doesn't always do what it's supposed to, leading to death.
The game-play is repetitive - you automatically run, and tap to jump or fire.
The level design in campaign mode is uninspiring - it's random and boring.

By jumping on an alien or shooting it, you destroy it. Every so often you can get some hearts to refill your HP or crates to replenish your ammo (or get a different looking gun that fires the exact same bullets). Reaching the final crate gives you a spaceship to fly off to the next planet and do the exact same thing in a slightly different colored environment.

There are so many other, better games out there that I really don't know how Alien March will survive in such an over saturated genre (at least on the Android).

Honestly, until the control issues are fixed, I wouldn't even bother with this game. Nothing is as frustrating as running for 19185 feet, just to die because the jump button did nothing.
I also don't understand why they don't have some sort of a double jump feature. You control an astronaut with a jet pack on his back, which apparently does nothing.

All in all, this game has been done before, and much better.

1.0 out of 5 stars Virtually unplayable August 6, 2012

Like all the other reviews, the controls are horrible. The jump is finicky and lasts for a particular amount of time. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Not to mention the board scrolls faster the further along you go, making judging jumps harder and harder. It's almost impossible to avoid the creatures because of this. It shouldn't be my device, my Epic 4G Touch is more than capable of handling this game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun game on kindle fire August 6, 2012

Fun game. Only controls are jump and shoot. The controls work fine on my kindle fire. Graphics are really crisp. Fun game when you want to kill five or ten minutes and not hours.

Your objective is to fly from planet to planet and to jump from platform to platform while fighting unlimited alien enemies. There are seven planets and two game modes titled campaign or survival. You can turn off the music or the speaker. Only the first level is unlocked. Kill all the aliens and collect the boxes that contain supplies and you get a box that is really a spaceship and you go to another planet and get to fight other aliens. The graphics are fairly good but the controls don't always work, particularly the jump button. I lost one level 6 times as the astronaut would simply not jump when the button was pressed.

The game is 20.25 MB and contains no permissions that are listed.

This game was pretty fun and I actually wanted to see how far I could go in the game but with the control for jumping being so erratic it took the fun out of the game. It actually seemed like the longer I played the game the worse the jump control got. By the time I got to the survival mode it was not enjoyable to play without having proper control over your astronaut.

This could have been a fairly good game but it losses three stars for having poor game controls. This is a basic requirement but it was not met and it severely detracted from the game play. I am using a Kindle Fire.

I also don't like the first shill review promoting this and the other games by the same developer. This is becoming the standard operating procedure on apps now and it makes it hard to tell a game's true value without playing it. People with financial interest are not supposed to write reviews on their own products.

3.0 out of 5 stars Very basic design. August 6, 2012

The entire game is simply a man running forward with a gun. The only user controls are a button to jump and a button to shoot, that's all. You can't stop running forward and you can't control speed. All you can control is when you jump, how far you jump based on how long you press the jump button and when you shoot.

You are running on a planet full of hostile aliens. You can shoot them or jump on top of them like Super Mario Bros. Without any ability to control the run makes is less fun than games like Super Mario Bros though.

It seems the Dev is learning to make games.

The game does not require any permissions at all. Glad Amazon is not pushing a freemium today. I don't do freemiums.

2.0 out of 5 stars Poor controls! August 6, 2012
Verified Purchase
It is very average looking game in terms of graphics. There are surely better ones out there. But It could have been a good game if the controls worked better. The plus side is that this game has no permission and would have been a perfect little game if the controls were responsive.

Being a dinosaur myself, I tried my best to complete one level but could not do it. I promptly uninstalled it for now and kept it in the cloud and if I see new updates to this game I will try it again on my Kindle Fire and Galaxy tab.

At the current state of game-play I cannot rate it more than 2 stars. I will update my review if and when a new update comes out that improves the controls.

Cheers!

2.0 out of 5 stars Game on rails September 6, 2012

I enjoyed the trailer of this game and figured it was a side scroller with guns.
You can shoot and jump and thats it, you cant control forward or back and the game is on rails. You cannot stop your character and choose when and where to move, just jump and shoot.

The game bombed and gave up before a minute ended. I quickly uninstalled.

This game would be great IF you could have a full dpad and could have full control of your character to move at will.

3.0 out of 5 stars Game for the young
The game starting out is challenging, but becomes monotonous after 2 planets. On the whole, it gets too fast for the older player.
