Unique and great, December 27, 2009
This workout combines sport moves (bootcamp) and dance moves (boogie) in a surpisingly great way. It is cued beautifully, and the movements really work well together to give you a great, total body workout. I usually am not very good at following a lot of dance moves, but I had no trouble following this workout the first time I did it. The dance is pretty simple, yet very fun, and it is a nice release from the bootcamp moves. Petra Kolber cues perfectly, and she is motivating and fun. The workout is about 55 minutes of cardio, including the warmup. The movements include lunges, punches, repeater knees, plies, chasses, pivots, marches, jumps, hip sways and more; I worked out different muscles than I do with a lot of my other DVDs. The cardio is broken into intervals, including a 45-second intense burst at the end of the intervals. However, I almost didn't notice I was doing the burst because Petra eases into it beautifully and it goes fast. There is also a recovery section after these intervals, which includes plies and hip sways and which slows your breath again. Petra teaches everything add-on style, and she and her background exercisers do three different levels of intensity so you can pick the one that is right for you. She works both sides of the body evenly, although you have to wait a little bit to do the second side. All in all, the program is unique, fun, and effective. I exercise regularly and I was fatigued by the end - in a really good way. This workout would be good for anyone who is already familiar with exercise. I believe this is a great workout at a late intermediate or early advanced level, and I enjoyed that it can be modified for more or less intensity. I really enjoyed working out to this DVD, and I recommend it.

Buy This DVD, December 4, 2009
I've had this DVD for about a month because I participated in the pre-sale from Petra's webiste. The DVD consists of multiple combinations. Each combination has a bootcamp, boogie, interval, and "active recovery" portion. The active recovery is to catch your breath after the interval. Each interval is demonstrated at 3 levels; beginner, intermediate, and advanced. This enables you to tailor the workout to your fitness level, and how you feel that day. Petra always demonstrates the beginning interval level and she has 2 back up dancers that demonstrate the intermediate and advanced intervals. The boogie portion is simple dance moves. Whenever there is a turn, it is optional. You can really personalize this workout.
The music selection is fantastic. Petra always picks the best music. I love Petra Kolber. She has a great personality, and she's encouraging without being annoying. The cueing in this DVD is great. I also recommend 3, 2, 1, Dance and Just Dance if you like more dance based DVDs.
I personally am not big on intervals, but this DVD makes them fun. I don't feel like I'm being punished as I do during some interval based DVDs.

Simply the Best! Effective & Fun too., February 2, 2010
I prefer to workout outdoors but in the midwest during the winter that is not always an option. This DVD provides a fun workout that does challenge you but in very subtle way. I always wear an heart rate monitor during exercise I was very surprised to discover the amount of calories burned during this workout didn't vary much from the same amount minutes spent jogging. My average heart rate was in the steady 80% range but it never felt like it during the actual workout. It could be because I was having a pretty good time and didn't notice the effort I was using.
I'm very impressed by Petra the instructor. She motivates, cues perfectly, and her personality is charming,witty, and genuine.
The workout itself is unique. It is done in intervals but it flows so well you don't notice it. I love the bootcamp but the dance moves make the workout fun. I'm not a dancer but Petra's coaching makes it very easy to do the steps.
I own many DVD's by the heavy hitter's of the fitness industry. Their DVD's a truly effective but usually wath the clock type boring too. I've never been excited about an exercise DVD but Bootcamp Boogie wonderful.
