Book Description

International Bestselling Author D. D. Scott two-steps into your heart with book one of her chart-topping debut series. A #1 Free Title on all of the major ebook etailers, it’s been downloaded over 600,000 times and was a Top 10 Mother’s Day Pick.

Think Sex and the City meets Urban Cowboy.

It’s Chick Lit Gone Country.

Manhattan apparel designer Roxy Rae Vaughn, who's also a still-in-the-closet, country line dancing queen, is tired of being a Fifth Avenue up-and-comer. Against her parent’s wishes and without their financial backing, she moves to Nashville, Tennessee and opens a boutique in a local tractor supply store, the only retail space she can afford. Short on cash and luck, she rear-ends a pick-up truck belonging to a tomato-growin', bootscootin' cowboy who is anything but the perfect fit for her career plans, although he is her ideal dance partner. Can Roxy accept that her best fit is on the dance floor moving to her own style and her cowboy's lead?

Tomato farmer by day and bootscootin' instructor by night Zayne McDonald doesn't give a damn about winning Nashville's heirloom tomato contest, even though his late father did. Zayne wants to honor his father, but what he really wants is to line dance his way into a winner's spotlight. When he and Roxy are discovered by a huge dance show producer, Zayne learns it's partnering with Roxy that's his winning hybrid mix. That is, if he can keep her and the tomato contest away from Beefsteak Jack Baudlin, the toughest tomato man in CMT country.

2.0 out of 5 stars I really wanted to like this book, but I just couldn't September 22, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Does the story have potential? Yes. Of course I'm a firm believer most stories have potential and with a lot of work this story could be great too. There is no way on earth I would rate this at more than a 2 and that's really pushing it. I was unable to read past chapter 3, and it's very rare for me to be unable to finish a book. I was bored and just didn't care about the characters because the author spent more time focusing on the minor things instead of on developing the characters. And even though I thought the book was set in modern times, with the wording I felt like I was stepping into a 1900 Nashville instead of a modern one.Being from Nashville myself I can tell the author did absolutely NO research on the location and just used a stereotype for the storyline and characters.
The idea that Nashville is full of cowboys and cowgirls who chew on straw all day and go to "saloons" (we call them bars and clubs just like everywhere else)is completely ridiculous. Yes Nashville is the country music capital and all, but seriously the whole cowboy, line dancing, farmer, and cowboy dancing boots thing was way over done in this book. Walk around Nashville and it's just like every other city in America. Maybe if I didn't live outside of Nashville I would feel differently, but knowing that the area is nothing like the author portrayed really just made the book unrealistic to me.
The author needs a lot of editing and needs to spend more time focusing on the major aspects of the novel, like developing the characters and less on the "country" setting.
With some work and research I could probably give the novel a higher rating, I really wanted to like the book, it being based in Nashville, but I just couldn't.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bootscootin Blahniks September 13, 2011

Oh for heavens sake. I did my best to finish this book, I could not do it. Halfway into it I quit. Page after page of what people were wearing and what the furniture was like and what the pictures on the walls looked like. Life is to short to try and get through this book. Find something better to do.

1.0 out of 5 stars Who Cares? September 23, 2011
By Susan K
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Are you kidding me? This might be the absolute worst book I have ever read. I do not care about the characters, the story or even the dang tomatoes. I cannot even finish it. It was free, but even at that price it was a rip off. I always read the reviews first and this time I was fooled for sure by all the positive reviews. What???????

1.0 out of 5 stars just awful! September 17, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
could not even get a quarter way into the book. The writing was awful! what this author desperately needs is a good editor! the other reviewers must have been her friends or something, because I do not see any other reason one would give her more than 1-2 stars. thankfully this was free, so I just deleted.

2.0 out of 5 stars It was free...what can I say? September 20, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Ok, the title got me. I love shoes. The reviews sounded pretty good. But I got about halfway through and thought "Do I really care what happens to these characters?" Truthfully? The answer was no. So I never even finished it. Hit the delete button. Thank goodness it was free. It was a no guilt 'delete'.

I don't even think the best author could combine a tomato farmer, Manolo Blahniks, bootscootin' (it seems to be the author's favorite word), health problems (which I think she should research more), a saloon, a clothing designer, a whiny poor little rich girl and a bunch of assorted other characters. Nothing seemed to gel, too many plots and sub-plots, none of the characters were appealing, and for some reason, the author seemed to throw in random foul language every other page just because she could. I'm not a prude, I've been known to throw a few good expletives around, but this bad language just seemed to be added for no real reason.

The title is great. But unfortunatley it goes downhill from there....

1.0 out of 5 stars Mind numbing August 5, 2012

This book forever for me to finish. It was entirely too long, the cowboy cliches were a but overkill and I just didn't connect to the characters.

2.0 out of 5 stars Bleh... September 26, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I am still struggling to get through this book. Normally I finish something like this the same day I start it, and here I'm on the third day with no end in sight. The writing is stilted, the vocabulary and grammar errors awful, and it's just boring. So the writer knows designer labels... So what? What the writer doesn't seem to know is the difference between a 'piece' of something or a 'peace' of it, that people don't 'wonder' around, but 'wander,' and that chicken isn't 'backed,' but 'baked.' I think I was done reading at that part, actually, which is where I stopped to write this review. I can get past some writing errors if the characters are well developed and enjoyable to read about, but this book lacks that as well. Don't waste your time.

2.0 out of 5 stars Just not very interesting... September 23, 2011
By Stacey
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I read a lot of romance novels - I've read a lot of bad romance novels, but I usually finish whatever I am reading. This book was so tiresome and boring that I started randomly skipping pages around the middle of the book. For whatever reason, I wanted some sort of resolution so I skimmed my way to the end. But what a tiresome read....I thought Roxy was ridiculous and over the top. Reading the constant descriptions of her clothing and how over the top it was, made me wonder why she didn't call in Dolly Parton to model for her. I didn't like Roxy, her mother or Zayne's mother. Zayne was tolerable but really? A modern day tomoato farmer living 10 minutes from Nashville? I had a hard time accepting any of this book....
