5.0 out of 5 stars Read and Devour the Information in This Book! :), July 2, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: Bootstrapper's Success Secrets: 151 Tactics for Building Your Business on a Shoestring Budget (Paperback)
When I first opened "Bootstrapper's Success Secrets" I really expected it to be a fresher version of a lot of other books/articles/magazines on Entrepreneurship. It is not. It is, I believe, a 12 hour investment that any Entrepreneur would be wise to devote time to.

It is excellently written, with compassion, intelligence and understanding. Kimberly Stansll has been there and is a leader for those of us who will listen. Ms. Stansll explains rather than tells us of the various components we need to develop in order to build our business. I have come away with a much better understanding of what I have done incorrectly, why and how to repair my mistakes. And avoid them again.

I believe it took me, from the first time I sat down with "Bootstrapper's Success Secrets" and began to take notes, until I finished the last page and the last note, a total of 12 hours. If you cannot pledge 12 hours to your business, maybe you should consider being employed by someone else. :)

I have a "Success Tip #152: Read and Devour the Information in this Book": This book was worth the 12 hour investment to encourage an Entrepreneur who might want to start a business; to encourage an Entrepreneur whose business is in transition; to encourage an Entrepreneur who is well established (in which case it can be a part of networking.) No matter how established we are in our business, I believe we should never reach the point of "oh, I know that; I've read it before; I really don't need that anymore." I only wish I'd known of the newsletter while it was active!

The book is easy to read and formatted in a way to quickly gain new ways to approach your business. She understands all the dilemmas in the entrepreneurial life and has strategy after strategy to solve the dilemmas. This is a must have book for every entrepreneur who is serious about being successful.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best small-business start-up book I've read, March 20, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: Bootstrapper's Success Secrets: 151 Tactics for Building Your Business on a Shoestring Budget (Paperback)
As a writer & researcher for Home Office Computing magazine, I see a lot of How to Start a Home Business books that come my way. The reality is, they know as much about starting a business as a goat shepard in the 13th century would about programming a VCR. Kimberly Stansell's book is as welcome a relief from those generic books as nitrous oxide was to dental patients. Want to make it as a small business? Read this book. *Study* this book. Why? If you were lost in the forest, you'd want matches and water. Well, if you're starting a small business, you're going to be lost at some point, and then you'll need this book as badly as you would that other gear.

5.0 out of 5 stars Author manages to do what many others can only claim!, July 17, 1999

This review is from: Bootstrapper's Success Secrets: 151 Tactics for Building Your Business on a Shoestring Budget (Paperback)
I enjoyed Bootstrapper's Success Secrets: 151 Tactics for Building Your Business on a Shoestring Budget, given to me by fellow Santa Barbara resident and KINKO'S founder, Paul Orfalea.

Kimberly Stansell manages to do what many others can only claim: put together real and constructive steps to building a strong business and work ethic, simply. I have spent many years building a successful food business, with offices and processing facilities in the USA and Great Britain and have been involved in helping a number of smaller businesses mature, so I feel qualified to say how impressed I am with this book and the author's clear insight into providing sound business advice. -- Patrick A. This review is from: Bootstrapper's Success Secrets: 151 Tactics for Building Your Business on a Shoestring Budget (Paperback)
Kimberly Stansell's book is jam-packed with helpful in- formation for the new entrepreneur as well as for all small businesses looking for low-cost ways to expand their businesses. Her book's listings and tips are a result of her exhaustive research and experiences she has gathered over the years in publishing her newsletter, Bootstrappin' Entrepreneur, and her own business' activities, Research Done Write!. Her book offers information that is both real and practical. I recommend Stansell's book to be placed on every small business owner's bookshelf

5.0 out of 5 stars Full of useful information and great tips, March 2, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: Bootstrapper's Success Secrets: 151 Tactics for Building Your Business on a Shoestring Budget (Paperback)
Kimberly Stansell's book is terrific! Unlike other small business books, she offers real information you can use immediately to better your business without spending a fortune. The book is written in a very easy to read format so you don't have to wade through hundreds of pages to find the good stuff. I found at least ten tips on my first read through that probably will pay for the cost of the book. As a small business consultant and writer I highly recommend this book! Carolyn Z. Lawrenc
