Bop Until You Drop,
This review is from: Bop-Be (Audio CD)
The "American Quartet" - Keith Jarrett (p), Dewey Redman (s), Charlie Haden (b), Paul Motian (d) - made their final album on Impulse! a shining example of drawing energy and creative influences from each member to demonstrate the the premium value of "free" jazz.Out of the seven numbers, Jarrett pens only one, with Redman responsible for three compositions and Haden for two, with the standouts being the title track, Pyramids Moving and Pocket Full of Cherry. The album has suffered the fate of being out-of-print in the U.S., but this gem is worth trying to track down as an import...that is, if you want to bop until you drop.

Just Because I Rated it 4 Stars Doesn't Mean It's Not Great,

This review is from: Bop-Be (Audio CD)
As many of you might already know Keith Jarrett plays classical music these days. This album features a great four-piece group and the jazz they make is wonderful! Lots of inventiveness and interplay. Most notable is the playing of Charlie Haden, such a sweet tone and note selection is just great.I had this on cassette, so this was a replacement purchase. I must say that I'm enjoying listening to the songs. This is progressive jazz, lots of straightahead pieces with some other moody tracks for lots of variety. It's not for everyone--but for those who appreciate the kind of jazz this is will be rewarded for buying it.
