The tubing that forms the base of the bouncer fits into plastic oval mounts and are secured by metal pins. The pins, made out of cheap stamped metal, are folded to create a spring. The problem is that these pins break very easily along the crease where they are folded, and once they break, the base can collapse. One day while my two month old son was in the bouncer, one of the tubes slipped out of the mount (two pins were broken) and the bouncer lurched forward. Luckily I was close by and held on to the seat, preventing my son from falling out. The manual said to call Kids II, the maker of the chair, for customer service. I called, left a message and received no reply. I called Boppy's customer service several times and each time left a message and, again, no reply. I emailed customer service at Boppy and once again received no response.

He has also grown to be a bit colicky, and during fussy times a few minutes w/the vibration feature and heartbeat sound on works wonders. This is the only item that he actually enjoys being in, and spends any amount of time in. I wish I had one for every room b/c it is a pain to move...but I'd be crazy if I had to live w/out it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic item, August 21, 2007
I received this as a gift and would highly recommend it for newborns. It's definitely more about comforting than entertaining. The fabric is very soft and the seat is very deep and enveloping compared to most bouncers. It does bounce if baby gets energetic, but not on its own, however you can bounce it gently yourself with very little effort. It has a volume control for the music (soothing melodies) and sound effects (rain, water and something which sounds like a heartbeat) and a gentle vibration feature. The structure seems very stable and I can't imagine it could tip easily, if at all. I have mostly used it for my little one to nap in during the day (never unattended). The heartbeat sound particularly seems very soothing for her and she's able to snuggle down in the seat like she would in my arms. It allows me to put her down somewhere comforting for an hour and keep an eye on her so I can get a few things done, or sit down for a minute. I do wish the sound would go on a little longer - it shuts off after about ten minutes to save battery power - but other than that I wouldn't change a thing.

Edited 3/3/2008 to add: My daughter is now 7 months old and we still use this every day. She doesn't sleep in it any more but uses it like a chair (it has two settings, reclining and upright). It has enough room for a few toys of her own, and she recently discovered the toy bar and loves the little bug, which she can now pull off with a bit of work. Now she's older she enjoys the music though we still use the heartbeat sound for background if she's having trouble dozing off for her nap. Also, in 7 months we have NEVER had to change the batteries. This bouncer really has been great and I'll be very sad when she grows out of it.

I bought this bouncer a few days after we brought my son home from the hospital, because I wanted somewhere else to put him down besides the pack'n play. He's 5 months old now and he's sat in it everyday since we got it. I liked it because it's nesty, and when he was very little it cradled him and he seemed able to snuggle down in the seat. It also has a nice wide base, so although it's springy, it's not going to tip over easily. The fabric is machine washable, and the fuzzy part stays soft even after you wash it. My son doesn't really care about the sounds or vibrations, and after two months he didn't care about the toys either (in fact, we've taken the toy bar off completely), but it gives him another view of the world and he likes to sit and watch the dog walk by.
***Update: I am still very happy with this bouncer, however I would like to point out that it does not come apart for storage. Once you put it together it stays that way. If space is an issue for you, this might not be the best choice.

4.0 out of 5 stars Babies Love them - Parents may Struggle with Assembly, June 13, 2009
Length:: 3:12 Mins

Including my wife and I there are three families using the "Cradle in Comfort" and all of the babies love their "Boppy". It offers a gentle vibration, soft and soothing music, and a soft texture. While it is overly light it can be moved without too much effort.

Other reviewers have mentioned the construction - while i disagree about it being a safety issue I will say it can be a pain to assemble. The problem is that poor quality control (in my opinion) makes assembly much difficult than necessary than needed- pieces do not fit together as designed which causes frustration on the part of the assembler! This cost the "Cradle in Comfort" one star.

Final Verdict -

Babies will love them ... and parents will too once it is assembled!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Bouncer, October 25, 2007
By
I love this bouncer! I used to have one made by Fisher Price with massage and vibration that we loved, but this one is even better.

One thing to point out... perhaps those people saying it does not bounce or you have to do it manually do not understand that bouncers only bounce when the infant kicks. If they are putting a newborn in it and expecting it to magically start moving, of course that is not going to happen. That is not a flaw in the item, that is just how bouncers work. This one bounces as much as any other bouncer we've tried out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best product!, May 2, 2007
This review is from: Boppy Cradle In Comfort Bouncer - Blue (Baby Product)
This is such a great product! Very soft maaterial.. very easy to put together. The sounds and music is a great addition. You can adjust the volume to 3 different levels. My son likes the water sounds the best. He could sit in this for a long time.

I highly recommend this product. It was worth the price!

4.0 out of 5 stars Love this chair, July 14, 2007

I think babies either love these chairs or hate them, and our baby definitely is in the former group. This chair was super easy to put together, seems to be comfortable for her and she falls asleep often in this. She also seems quite content to hang out in this chair if we have to do some things around the house. We also bring it outside if we're taking a break and reading, etc. The only thing that would make it better is that I wish it would come apart for easier travel. We've brought it on two road trips so she has somewhere to sit when we're staying somewhere else, but have to put it in the car as is, which takes up a lot of room.

The best part-- she is two months old and we have yet to change the batteries! (ANd we use this a lot)

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad but not so great, February 27, 2009

This seat is entertaining and yet not too stimulating so that the baby could relax and maybe take a nap in it, and that is exactly why I bought it. But if you are looking for something more fun and exciting for your baby to play in then I would suggest something like the fisher price rainforest bouncer.

This seat looks very cozy, but I'm not sure that it really is. It seems to me that my son's back is always arched when he's sitting in it. I don't think that the curvature of the back of the seat is right for the baby's back, and that applies for both the reclined and inclined positions. On the other hand, the fact that it has 2 positions is very useful. I mostly keep it in the reclined position but I use the other position when the baby had just finished eating to keep him slightly upright to stop him from spitting up.

The pad that lies under the baby is not fixed to the lining of the seat and keeps slipping down and folding under the baby making him uncomfortable. The cushions on the sides of the pad are cozy for a newborn baby but once the baby becomes more active, they seem to hinder his arm movement. I would suggest that you remove the pad and the little pillow once your baby is able to support his own head, although it is easier to wash the pad rather than remove the whole seat lining to wash it.

The vibration and the music seem to have a soothing effect on my son although it took him a while to get used to the vibration, it made him cry the first few times we turned it on.

The curved bar that holds the toys above the baby could simply be pushed back making it easy to put the baby in and take him out of the seat. I think it is more user friendly than most other seats.

I would give this 3 and half stars if I could. Good luck making the right choice and I hope my review is helpful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mommy Must Have!!, March 14, 2008

I love this product! We purchased another bouncer, the Fisher-Price Rainforest Bouncer, and our son thought it was so-so. The boppy bouncer is a DREAM! This product is superior to any other baby item we've purchased. It was easy to put together, it has the widest variety of sounds, and provides a parents tired arms with a bit of relief from a baby who wants to be held every minute of the day! An infant with serious colic has turned our household a little bonkers, I wish we would have had this from day one. Nothing can replace mommy's arms, but this sure comes close.
