Boppy Luxe Newborn Lounger with Slipcover, Pastel

I was looking to buy a baby gift for a friend and remembered our favorite "Danger Pillow" from when my son was a baby (now he's 2.) Here's the review I wrote for the old Boppy Lounger:

"Our one month old son loves to sleep on this pillow. Next to his parents, the Boppy Newborn Lounger is his favorite place to crash (despite all the warning labels.) Once you read all the warning tags, you suspect the whole thing will catch on fire the moment you start to fold the laundry. I'm pretty sure it's all for liability purposes, the pillow itself does not seem very suspicious. Obviously, don't put it on top of the dryer, but how a baby could NOT sleep on this pillow is beyond me. My preemie son loves to sleep, rest, digest and chill on his pillow (he's now 6.5 pounds) and it supports his little body well. I would recommend this one to any new parent.

My husband and I call it the DANGER PILLOW due to all the fearsome labeling. So far it has not attacked any of us."

I am pleased to say that the extensively labeled DANGER PILLOW never so much as raised a hand to any of us and is now the cat's favorite place to crash after a long day of being chased by my toddler!

I registered for this product on a whim, and I am so very glad that I did. We used it on the very first day our full-term son came home, and have used it every day since that time (he is a very big boy at 3 1/2 months). It is highly portable, and we have carried it with us on visits to friends and family as it is a great place for him to rest comfortably, even in locations which might not usually be considered that baby friendly. It is a good alternative to a car seat on those occasions, particularly if you have a child who dislikes his car seat, or who is more comfortable stretched out instead of confined in a seat. Contrary to one of the reviews on this site, it isn't actually just a "boppy with a slipcover" but does in fact have padding all around, with an indent in the middle to hold baby. The shape allows your baby to feel snuggled and helps keep baby from rolling around or shifting around as he or she might on a regular pillow.

Although the company does not recommend that you use this pillow for regular nighttime sleep, we do allow him to nap on the lounger when we are in the room to make sure he is safe and doesn't turn over in his sleep. I do recommend that you purchase an additional slipcover, as baby will make so much use of the pillow that you want to make sure you have a clean cover on hand when the first is in the wash!

And I definitely agree with another reviewer, cats love this pillow! Our pillow will be transitioning into full-time cat space as soon as our son outgrows it.

This is a great product. Our baby is 15 weeks old, and he still loves it. It is easily moveable throughout the house (and going to Grandma's), so I can do things while still being able to talk to him. It is also nice for dressing him. Our baby likes to play with his toys and watch others while sitting in the pillow. I use a small waterproof pad under his head, so I have not had to wash the slipcover much.

I am a mommy of an 8 month old, and I am so sad that we are not using our infant lounger anymore--this is a very useful product for those first few months, and I love that this specific item has a washable cover. Our lounger is the green fleece one that does not have a removable cover, so I am glad to see this improvement in an already great product. I didn't think much of this item when my husband brought it home, but after a few minutes, my baby just got so cozy, and my hands were free for a few minutes!!! I now give this gift to everyone that invites me to their baby shower because it is not something that Babies R Us seems to stock, and few register for, because they do not know it is available. Everyone loves it that I have given it to.

I bought the first version of the lounger (2007) for my first baby. It was green fleece, pilled and did not have a removable cover (Hello?? who designed that for a baby). It ended up with spit up stains etc and was in my garage sale summer of 08. I had another baby in fall of 2008 and purchased this one on Amazon. HELLO they finally made the removable cover and the fabric is much better than the previous fleece as well. Easy to remove and wash. I highly recommend this for an infant - it is just the perfect amount of support for their bodies and head. I've gotten this for gifts for new moms as well and have been told how much they used them. I highly highly recommend this - a great shower gift that I know they will use!!

I bought this for my premature daughter so that she would have a snuggly place to lay. She seemed so much more comfortable in this pillow than laying flat on her back. We have used this daily for four months and plan to continue using it until she's too long for it. The only reason this product didn't receive 5 stars is because the pillow itself is not washable. So far, we haven't had a problem, but one big accident could be a cleaning nightmare. Maybe Boppy should figure out how to put a waterproof cover on the pillow underneath the comfy cover.

It is a very well made product and very simple to clean. My son is very active, so we haven't been able to use this that often. Sometimes he enjoys lying on it and looking up at me while I'm talking to him, but it is rare he can stay still that long. He's around 16-17 pounds at three months old, but he still fits on it fine. If you don't want to buy one of these, you can use a regular Boppy in pretty much the same way. It was given to me as a gift, but I wouldn't go out and buy one.

This Boppy Luxe is really great! I've used it for myself as a prop up pillow (but its very thick and firm), babies love to lounge in it, but I would have to say that my two cats are constantly FIGHTING over which one gets to lay in this pillow! I do not have children yet but my cats are obsessed with this. If you have a baby and cats, buy them each their own!

We can't say enough about the Newborn lounger, we truly owe our sanity to it. We used it exclusively for the first two weeks, always supervised, and then for months after during the day. Our little one had reflux and this helped keep him a little upright after meals and also kept him contained and comfy. We have purchased several for friends and all have been very happy with it.

I will add that when we bought ours, there was no cover included or available. I see that they now are included. We had to cover ours with a little blanket to help with cleanup, but didn't find it too inconvenient.

At first I thought this was a bit of a frivolous gift but oh no! I love this pillow. I've used it with my son from week one and he is now a 20lb 7 month old. I laughed at the review calling it a "danger pillow" because the warnings ARE fearsome. But this lounger is the primary place for my son to nap. Yes if you set this on a couch and leave your kid alone it can be dangerous but come on people! It is easy to wash, I throw it in my top loading washer (side loaders might be easier since there isn't the agitator to get in the way.) I'm sure I could have done without it had I never received one as a gift but I find NOW that I can't live without it. Definitely worth it. Not sure why one person felt that it wasn't a lounger - I guess having never tried it with your child it is hard to envision it working. The pillow does get "broken in" per se, meaning now the pillow is more of a cup shape and not so much just a flat pillow. Anyway, I love it.
