Very good inexpensive alternative to body pillow - keep a couple of regular pillows on hand too.,

This review is from: Boppy Pregnancy Wedge with Cotton Slipcover (Baby Product)
I bought this pillow around 18 weeks because I didn't like the inflexibility of body pillows (which always stay the same shape) or that reviewers complained that the stuffing in the big pillows shifts around inside.
I do like this wedge a lot and will not travel without it because it defeinately takes the weight off my back by pushing up my tummy. I reccomend having a couple of other pillows though, one behind the back (to keep you from rolling over on your back while you are asleep) one under your head and one or two between your legs. This ends up being alot of pillows but they are more flexible than the body pillows and a lot cheaper. I can also throw this in a suitcase or take it to the living room for a nap or watching television on the couch, which I couldn't do with a larger pregnancy pillow. It is also comfortable to sit on (as is the regular boppy pillow) if you are on the floor for some reason or sitting up in bed. UPDATE - not so hot after about month 7 or 8. I think this was great in the beginning, but don't expect it to solve your pregnancy related discomfort for the entire pregnancy.

Better for back support,
This review is from: Boppy Pregnancy Wedge with Cotton Slipcover (Baby Product)
I bought this despite hearing that it is too hard, and now I wish I would have listened. I am in the last half of my 2nd trimester, so maybe I'll use it more later, but for now it works best for back support when I'm sitting on the couch. When I have used it for sleeping I wake up with a sore abdomen, because the wedge is hard. I also have a snoogle pillow, and find that it works better alone, instead combined with the wedge. I hope the manufacturer will improve upon this wedge by making it with a material more like memory foam, which would make it softer, but still supportive. I am only 5'2", with a very short abdomen, so maybe the wedge made me sore because it went under my ribs, which were the most tender when I woke up.

Wonderful!,

This cushion has to be the best deal out there in terms of pregnancy pillows - at least for women in their 3rd trimester. I paid a lot more mid-pregnancy for a big "Snoozer" body pillow that has been in storage for several months now. For several weeks before buying the Boppy, I was waking up repeatedly with a lot of lower back and hip pain even though I was using a regular pillow to support my belly. With Boppy, I'm now sleeping much better and with a lot less back pain. I just wish I had tried it earlier!

Sleeping on my left side isn't a problem anymore,

I'm now 36 weeks into my pregnancy and have been using this wedge since about my 27th week. Before I broke down and bought the Boppy wedge, I absolutely could NOT get comfortable sleeping on my left side, as all the pregnancy books/sites/experts tell you you're supposed to do. No matter how many regular pillows, folded or wadded-up blankets or towels I tried to jam in around me, I just couldn't get comfortable enough to spend more than maybe an hour on my left side.
From the very first night with the Boppy wedge, I was able to get comfortable almost immediately on my left side and stay that way for several hours -- usually at least until I had to get up to visit the bathroom. I'm not saying I can stay on my left all night now -- I don't think it's possible or healthy to spend all night in one position, at least not for me. But this wedge definitely made a huge difference. Cons of this item are so insignificant to me that they didn't merit giving it four stars instead of five; the only recurring issue I have with it is that when you take the cover off to wash it, it's a teensy bit of a pain to get it back on correctly. The wedge itself has gotten slightly flatter with use, but it is definitely not flat enough to reduce its effectiveness in the least, and I am not a small woman (even when I'm not pregnant!). Lastly, unlike some of the other pregnancy pillows/supports out there (I'm also going to review the Snoogle, which did absolutely nothing for me), this one takes up hardly any extra bed space, is easy to "adjust" to your comfort requirements, and is easy to move around if you want to switch it from one side to the other. Bottom line: Don't wait till you're at your wits' end, like I did, to buy this wedge! Get it early and use it often. Boppy wedge: $14.99. Getting comfortable enough during pregnancy to achieve restful sleep: PRICELESS!

Excellent support for the tummy,

A friend loaned this to me and I am so grateful. It's been wonderful to have the support under my belly so I feel less pull on my hips. My lower back hurts less now that I am using it. I highly recommend to anyone whose tummy has grown enough that she feels the pull on her hips when lying on her side.

Husband-What did I know?,

I'm just a husband with a first time pregnant wife. So this whole ordeal is completely new to us.My wife was complaining about a hurting back, because our couches were too soft, at 10 weeks. She also has a slight scoliosis problem. The makers of this item really named the wedge poorly. I refuse to call it "the boppy" or "boppy wedge". In fact the bad name has kept me from referring this product to co-workers because I'm too manly to use the word boppy in a sentence out loud. However that being said, this thing works great! She takes it everywhere with her couch, bed, train, plane, even both our parent's houses. It is the only thing that gives her relief. As a funny anecdote: Before we had this wedge, my wife tried to sleep on top of a hot water bottle. Yup you guessed it. POP! Flood in the bed! So husbands do yourself a favor get this for your wife, before she tries to invent one herself.

The best pregnancy product I've purchased!,

This pillow is awesome! I used it a little my first trimester but by the end of my second trimester it was a must, even when napping on the couch! It has really held up a lot better than I thought it would, I guess the 'dense foam' really is pretty dense. I like that it's small & lightweight so I can readjust it easily throughout the night. I am now in my third trimester and I recently picked up a second boppy wedge to place behind my back both for comfort and to prevent me from rolling onto my back during the night. Since this is my first pregnancy and I haven't grown too much (about a 20 lb gain so far) the size is perfect for me. I'm not sure how well it might work for women with more prominent bellies, though. ATTENTION ALLERGY SUFFERERS: An added bonus is that this pillow is small enough to put inside a standard size allergy barrier pillowcase! That's something you can't do with any of the popular body pillows on the market!

I love my Boppy!,
This review is from: Boppy Pregnancy Wedge with Cotton Slipcover (Baby Product)
I bought this pillow at the start of my sixth month and am very happy with it. It's perfect for sleeping on my side, but also works well in the small of my back for lumbar support. It's small enough that it doesn't take up too much room in bed and I've also fit it in a small suitcase when traveling (I wouldn't dream of spending the night without it.) I've been using it for over a month now and it is breaking down a little bit, but still provides great comfort. I've already gotten my $15 out of it and I still have 12 weeks to go!

This pillow is awesome! It doesn't take up much room, it's the perfect size to support my belly, and I can put it behind me to keep from rolling over onto my back.

I laughed at the wedge when I first saw it, but let me tell you it works so much better than a bed pillow for propping up the baby bump for side sleeping. The wedge does a wonderful job of supporting the baby bump while taking pressure off my lower back and hips. Bed pillows were too large and caused more pressure on my back and hips. I love the wedge and I wish I would have purchased it sooner.
