5.0 out of 5 stars One of a Kind, October 5, 2007
As the title implies, there's no substitute for Boraxo. Not only is it extremely effective, it's probably the most gentle product of its kind and is, in fact, the only soap (as opposed to detergent) product from Dial that I use (the others I find either too harsh or too greasy). Sadly, for whatever reason, Dial has never been inclined to promote the product (they acquired the brand from U.S. Borax in 1989) and it has pretty much disappeared entirely from local store shelves.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not at all like the original, but what is these days, September 29, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Boraxo Original Powdered Hand Soap, 5-lb. Box DCP02203
The original Boraxo hand soap was finely ground almost like sugar and had a great smell. This stuff works ok but is much coarser and doesn't have that clean smell.

Whatever made the original so good ( and I still have some ) is probably banned by the Feds. like so many things that actually worked.

Either that or Boraxo saves .000001 cents per unit with the new formula.

I find it amazing how many great products have been ruined in this fashion.

Shipping was lightning fast however.

5.0 out of 5 stars best hand soap, February 5, 2007
I first noticed Boraxo hand soap at Marquette dental school, in the 50's, where it was used exclusively. I started using it as a mechanic because it's the only heavy duty hand soap that won't give you dermatitis. My wife makes silver jewelry and told me that Boraxo is recommended for washing hands before handling silver when you solder it. I'm afraid that Dial is not too interested in continuing the line. It is no longer stocked in grocery stores in Chicago.
