1.0 out of 5 stars Seriously bad stuff..., September 20, 2007
This review is from: Borderline Cult (DVD)
Oh...my....god. What have I just seen? Well, what have I just partially seen? I have only turned off a few movies in my lifetime - and this is the worst one I've turned OFF. This dreck can't even pass for a movie.
Shot with horrific camera skills, awful acting (?), and absolutely NO plot whatsoever, I must admit I don't think I've seen a more unsatisfying horror movie in my entire lifetime.

I thought at the very least it would have some good gore, interesting deaths, even a simple plotline, etc. No such luck. Now, I've seen tons of horror films. I mean tons. It is my favorite genre and I can't get enough. From Saw to Hostel, Argento to Romero, Jason to Michael Myers, Frankenstein to Dracula, Fulci to Bava - I've seen them all, and enjoyed them all in their own ways, even the really bad, eye-gouging B-grades. But I cannot find one redeeming quality to recommend this crap.
This director must be some kind of idiot. I hate to talk so poorly about someone's work, but seriously, this is trash. He needs to find a new job. I heard his stuff is junk, and this certainly proves it. Sorry, dude. And on that note, who produced this? Wow. Money wasted, to say the least. The very least.

The non-existent plot seems to be something about a bunch of women (420 or some outstanding figure like that) who are killed by a "cult" in some border town in Mexico, or was it Texas? I've already forgotten. If this is based on a true story then it is sad that THIS is the kind of movie that got made about it, when we have great movies based, even if loosely, on true events, with The TX Chainsaw Massacre leading the pack. Or how about the more recent Zodiac? - great film. Heck even that made-for-tv movie about Ted Bundy starring Mark Harmon was better than this!
Anyway, this "cult" apparently is a sleasy chick who drums up business (bodies, I mean) for a Drew Carey look-alike to kill- and not even in remotely interesting ways- (From all I watched, he strangled a few women, and even that wasn't interesting! He got out pliers or a random sharp implement a few times, but we never actually see what he does with them, the women just end up somewhat bloody.) Rounding out the "cult" is some other freaky mexican dude who got the job of burying the bodies, pounding a makeshift cross into the ground, and leaving something of theirs (a t-shirt, a random boot) at the site. Like the authorities (or anyone else for that matter) wouldn't notice 400 graves! Shallow graves, shallow plot. Maybe the movie got better after the first 40 minutes, if so, be sure to let me know!

There is no use for this movie at all, not even to slide the dvd case under a couch to level it, seriously! Take my best advice and just say NO. If I hadn't have rented this (thank god I didn't BUY it), I would have broken it into many small pieces just from the sheer agony of my time wasted. I'm just trying to save you from making the horrible mistake of purchasing this bottom-feeder.

So I guess you could say I hated it, huh?

1.0 out of 5 stars Almost completely worthless on all levels -, October 16, 2007
By
rSh (Largo, Fl) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Borderline Cult (DVD)
I read the storyline prior to PPVing this "movie" and was interested. Not even 5 minutes in, I knew I had wasted $3.99. Seriously, I could not be paid to watch this again. You never get to know any of the victims, so you never really care for them. Instead of giving the serial killers any real depth, the director attmepts to fill in the "how did these 3 pyschos get together" by having each Psycho video tape another telling his life story. BORING! The acting is so bad and the characters so shallow that you aren't afraid of anything about them. In fact, you just want to b&tch slap all of them for making this waste of video. The soundtrack sucks and the constant fly buzzing when there are no flies around is nothing more than anoying. Stay away, far, far away.

1.0 out of 5 stars Trash, not worth a nickel, July 13, 2008
This review is from: Borderline Cult (DVD)
It shouldn't even be on video or sold anywhere. This junk must have been made by someone on crack, theres an annoying buzzing sound effect for the first half hour that returns through out the movie. There is no storyline at all...not even a little bit of a plot. Not even worth your time if its free.
What is even more messed up, I also bought it in the cheapo bin at Wally World and tried to review it on their website and they wouldn't post it. I will never buy movies from them again, I find them cheaper on here anyway.
Hey, I noticed someones offering it used for a penny, lol

1.0 out of 5 stars THE. WORST. MOVIE. EVER!, June 8, 2008
This review is from: Borderline Cult (DVD)
I really, really wish i had even read one review before purchasing this movie based on the cover at my local wal mart for 6 bucks. i now see why it was in the cheapo bin. i cannot BELIEVE this movie even got any kind of distribution behind it to even end up at a walmart, but through one of the worst flukes in history it did. i will never have my hour of time back that i wasted fast forwarding through this worthless.. i dont even know what to call it. certainly not anything close to a movie. the acting is HORRIBLE in every aspect, laughable at best. i am disgusted right now. the movie is in the trash can where it belongs. do not let the alluring cover fool you as it did me, I cannot stress this enough it shoudl be a public service announcement, DO NOT COME WITHIN ANY CONTACT. Horrible, horrible, HORRIBLE!!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars An hour-and-a-half I'll never get back, May 28, 2008
This review is from: Borderline Cult (DVD)
This movie, and I hesitate to call it a movie, is so bad my head hurts
from watching it. The blurb says this movie is about three serial
killers, but really, the woman lures the (good-looking, large-breasted,
incredibly stupid) female victims out into the middle of nowhere, where
the big fat guy kills them in various non-imaginative, not particularly
interesting ways, then the black guy buries them (so I guess you have a
serial lurer, a serial killer, and a serial undertaker). This is
repeated 5 or 6 times, and then the "movie" ends. Seriously, that's all
there is to it. I believe the genre of this abomination is called
'splatterporn,' but there is pretty much no splatter, and the acting
ability of the cast is not quite up to porn standards. Even the
good-looking, large-breasted women keep their tops on, so it's a waste
from that angle, as well. Seriously, folks, you could hand out video
cameras to random high school students and come up with something
better than this crap.

I give it one star out of five, only because there's nothing lower. Save
your time and money.

1.0 out of 5 stars 3 People hang out at a desert border collecting murder counts for What??????, April 27, 2008
By
This review is from: Borderline Cult (DVD)
I unfortunately paid 20 bucks for this film. I wouldn't have spent a penny on it had i seen it. 20 dollars would not have been enough in payment to watch again. Boring as hell, Hardly any blood or gore in it either which is what i thought i was getting. Instead the torture kill scenes are choppy and the camera directs to the dorky looking guys face when he kills, probally to cover up for lack of having any kind of speical effects. The story line is pretty vacant as well. "Zero Stars" Awful, complete waste of time. This is coming from a trash enthusiast.I was mad at how i duped myself into buying this.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth renting much less buying!, March 17, 2008
This review is from: Borderline Cult (DVD)
The story does not seem to have anything to do with the killings in Juarez. The film is filled with fake boobs and bad acting. I was hoping for something having to do with those killings. This is NOT even worth renting much less buying. I am horror fanatic and this is one of the worst films ever!!!! On the back of the box, it refers to the director as a "master in horror". Maybe to himself, but if anyone else thinks so, that's just sad. It was so bad, I had to write a review for it.
This film deserves zero stars!!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars For those who love fly sound effects, July 22, 2011
This review is from: Borderline Cult (DVD)
This movie is an absolute waste. I only paid $1.00 for this and I regret every single red cent. The acting is just horrible the plot doesn't exist. Well it does... three people lure women to a camp and kill them... thats it. No, I'm serious thats the whole plot it's 81 minutes of that. We actually never even learn the names of the victims. The gore is just fake and very stupid. Oh, and lets not forget the greatest soundtrack ever to grace a movie. Including such hits as echo of shovel digging dirt and constant drone of flies flying. If you like to sit down with friends and bash on bad movies this is probably your kind of thing. If you just love watching movies but always say "This movie needs more fly noises then you will be in love with this. But, if you are a normal everyday person and have half of a brain in your head then for all that is holy avoid this movie.

1.0 out of 5 stars Avoid like the plague, September 7, 2007
This review is from: Borderline Cult (DVD)
Borderline Cult is yet another attempt to separate you from your money and give you crap. Uli Lommel is one of the two worst directors in modern horror. Hell, the film was shot with a camcorder for Christ's sake. The acting is this film is typical of the -Zgrade actors Uli has in his notorious film cult, The Cult of Uli, as the horror industry knows it as. Most notably is the lack luster performance by the female pycho killer, played by that no talent actress Elissa Dowling...
In the name of your good sense and to keep you from vomitting up your popcorn, avoid this film like the plague....it is total crap!!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Zero stars please, February 2, 2010
This review is from: Borderline Cult (DVD)
My daughter told me NOT to rent this just based on the cover alone (and she's a horror movie junkie). I should've listened. I think I got 5 min. into it then started fast-forwarding it for the 1st death scene & now I'm in here on the computer seeing if everyone else thinks it is awful & lo & behold they agree!!! Thank God I only wasted 50 cents on it. I'm not even gonna bother watching the rest. Oh yeah, it has spanish subtitles that are running under my closed captions so that is annoying!
