David, a young Humgone, is bored with his surroundings and believes his life to be dull and uneventful. His days are spent getting up to mischief in the only land he has ever known – Kay Kin. However, everything changes when his older and wiser friend, Drake, tells him of the prophecy that will take them on a journey far across the shores of Kay Kin and to many unknown and strange lands to save their beloved land from the evil Antoine Cabot who wants to achieve immortality and rule Kay Kin forever. David and Drake must retrieve the banished Borders and lead them in a fi ght against Antoine Cabot. David must also prove to be the strong leader he is destined to be. It is vital they retrieve the stolen key from Antoine Cabot because, once turned in the Master Clock, it will ensure his reign in Kay Kin, and its beings will be subject to an unimaginable fate. If The Borders fail, not only will they lose the land they love, David will never solve the mystery of his father’s disappearance.

I couldn't put this book down. A magical story that continues to capture my imagination. With its vivid descriptions of characters, places and events, I felt truly transported to the land of Aluxundara and a part of the characters' adventures. I cant wait for book 2! By far one of my favorite reads of 2006!
This book is a must read for all fantasy lovers! Fans of Tolkien, Robin Hobb, Janie Wurts etc shouldn't pass this one by.

This is a fantastic new book! Fresh, interesting characters with a deep story that gets you turing the pages fast to see whats going to happen next. Hard to put down, I cant wait to read the next one and find out what happens to David, Drew and the crew next.
This new Australian author is up there with the likes of Robin Hobb, Celia Dart Thorton, Anne McCaffery etc
