5.0 out of 5 stars Cute New Children's Book for Halloween, August 31, 2004

This review is from: Boris and Bella (Hardcover)
In the entire town of Booville, Bella Legrossi is known as the messiest monster. Her grime is grimy, and her slime is slimy. However, Bella is neighbors with Boris Kleanitoff. Boris, as opposed to Bella, is the cleanest monster in all of Booville. He spends his time dusting his cobwebs, and vacuuming his vampire bats. The two have absolutely nothing in common, but suddenly they are mysteriously brought together. The only answer to this mysterious connection is a huge Halloween bash, complete with ghosts, creepy-crawlies, beasts, and some really fancy dance moves.

Carolyn Crimi has created a new children's book, that will very likely go down in Halloween history. The characters of Bella and Boris are absolutely hilarious, and will have young readers laughing out loud at their witty commentary, while at the same time learning that you can be friends with someone, even if that someone is your complete opposite. With wondrous drawings filling every page, this is sure to be a hit this Halloween for both children, and their parents.

This is a book for kids of all ages. I love it so much that I bought several more copies for my neices and nephews. The story is appealing and the illustrations are hilarious. My husband and I crack up at the drawing of Boris picking boils off a gargoyle for his chocolate coated treats. The moral of the story is a familiar one but told in such an entertaining manner that it becomes quite fresh. I would recommend buying this even if it weren't bargain priced.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's a hit!, November 16, 2004

This review is from: Boris and Bella (Hardcover)
This book has been a huge hit my kids and with all the kids in my neighborhood. I actually came across it quite by accident. While perusing the shelves of my local bookstore, trying to find Madonna's latest book, I found this book which someone had obviously mistakenly placed on the shelf in front of a stack of Madonna's books. I started reading it and found it to be delightful! My kids love it too. And after talking to some of the other moms on my block, I found out that their kids feel the same. Move over, Madonna!

5.0 out of 5 stars Scarily Ever After, June 2, 2011
This review is from: Boris and Bella (Paperback)
This happy little romance comes to you from Carolyn Crimi, whom I know from the "Buccaneer Bunnies" book. This is for an older audience -- early grades.

Full of puns, the text is a scream -- and the sepia-toned illustrations set this "once upon a time" in a different class.

Very enjoyable.

I love this book! Kids will enjoy the antics of this mismatched couple. The humor works on so many levels. This is a great book to give as a gift to kids as well as adults. I read it whenever I need a laugh. The illustrations are "to die" for and add to the story.

5.0 out of 5 stars BORIS AND BELLA by MM, January 7, 2011
This review is from: Boris and Bella (Paperback)
BORIS AND BELLA
Have you ever been a messy girl or have you ever been a clean boy? Good!

The author is Carolyn Crimi. The genre of my book is fantasy. Bella is a messy girl. She lives in a garbage house with nasty things like spiders and rats. Boris lives in a house with no rats. He is a clean boy. The problem is they were mad at each other. They went to a Halloween party and saw each other. They forgot that they were mad so they danced together. My favorite part in the book is that she tried to clean her house and now it looks cleaner then last time. Bella and Boris are so funny. The monsters are always messy now but Bella is not messy anymore. When BELLA was not with BORIS SHE SAYS ugly words like punk. She also says other bad words to everyone else. I GIVE THIS BOOK 5 STARS.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for the gray age group, too., November 29, 2008
This review is from: Boris and Bella (Paperback)
This is a delightful book. I read it to about 30 nursing home patients and they really loved it. There are lots of children's books that are enjoyable to all age groups and this one was perfect. I read a book every month as part of a 1 hour volunteer activity time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Sweet Monster Friend Story!, October 10, 2008
This review is from: Boris and Bella (Paperback)
Bella is messy and Boris is neat. They have trouble with friends because of their obsessions. So when push comes to shove over a party, what do you think will happen? This is a very nice story and a joy to read. A fine Halloween story, kids really enjoy.
