A must have for C++ programmers learning Builder!,
By Kevin Bradley (bradlkm@wku.edu) (Bowling Green, KY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Borland C++Builder 3 for Dummies (Paperback)
This book is excellent if you need a starting point for programming in Builder. It gives examples and illustrations that will help C++ programmers convert their knowledge to Builder. If you are looking for a quick, easy introduction to Builder, get this book. Also, don't worry if it is for an older version of Builder, the versions are close enough in format to keep it understandable.

Beginners guide with clear explanations.,

This review is from: Borland C++Builder 3 for Dummies (Paperback)
If you know absolutely nothing about C++ or Builder, this is the book you should read. It's very clear and to-the-point when explaining how to use the components to build an application. The author uses step by step examples to walk you through using each component and lets you know what other components and properties you need to use to make that particular component work. One thing you should not expect to find in the book is help for actually programming in C++ or using SQL. The examples are helpful, but the book is about using Builder, not about programming. The one thing that makes this book so great is that you can actually learn from it without a major mental effort.

A complete waste of good paper,
By A Customer
This review is from: Borland C++Builder 3 for Dummies (Paperback)
The "for Dummies" in the title should be an alert to the buyer. The Dummy part I did was parting with any money for this complete waste of paper. A lot of waffle, and no progress or REAL teaching of how to use Builder. Everything is presented as "just type this, trust me, it works". The CD was even more useless... except for use as a coaster.
