When I ordered this I thought it was white glass, or glass with a whitish cast. Doesn't the picture look like that? At 5.60 for 6 of these I got them for less than a dollar a plate- I bought 4 sets. 3 for me, and 1 for my daughter in college. These are great CLEAR glass soup plates. They are on the thin side- so you can't bang them around, but on the other hand none of them broke during shipping! And considering some of my Amazon experiences with glass, that is a pretty good thing. These are not super attractive- they are just a functional clear soup bowl. Some of the edges were not as pretty as I would have liked (if I were paying a lot for them). They aren't rough, but they just aren't super well polished- but no biggy. Another plus is they stack perfectly, so they take up very little room in your cupboard. I've got 12 of them on a very small shelf- and the profile of a stacking plate is important to me, since shelf space is at a premium in our house.
