I have picked up single jars by this brand at my local grocery store over the years and liked them. (I use them not for canning but to hold my sourdough starter, kefir, and other ferments that I do not want to come in contact with either metal or plastic.) The sets I ordered, while technically containing the same items, differed in quality: the metal ring closure is much more flimsy and ill-fitting on all of these jars (I purchased four sets of three each) than on the three jars I already had (same brand but purchased several years ago elsewhere. I haven't sent the sets back since I have been busy to bother, so I guess I'll be keeping them.I was hugely disappointed, though. No better than a flimsy made-in-China jar from Ikea at this point, at least the closing mechanism. (The actual glass is still better quality).

Nice set for the kitchen counter top and good price. I purchased these for canning and long term storage. The wiring hinge and clamps are small gage and will not hold up to lots of use, they come apart and bend with ease making them unsuitable for canning.
