I was very excited to find this. Glass domes were too heavy. The first one arrived with the dome handle attached crookedly. It was returned, no problem. The second one arrived, scratched and cloudy. So that went back. Then I had my purchase price refunded. Too bad. This is just what I wanted.

I needed a nice cake platter to put on the counter to hold my baked items and keep them fresh. I have kids, so I wanted something nice looking that didn't have a cover that was too heavy to lift. And I wanted it for a good price! After reading the other reviews, I was a bit skeptical, but now that I've received the item, I am so pleased that I sat down to write a review.

Someone at Amazon must have read the other reviews as the shipping box had alot of padding, and the cake platter itself had been removed from its box and had additional bubble wrapping around it. The plastic dome is very light and had no imperfections or scratches. The glass plate is a heavier weight glass, with one side of the plate being flat and smooth with a slight lip around the edge. The other side has a textured bottom with a much higher lip as the bottom is lower compared to the other side. That makes the textured side the one I will use for taller cakes as it has more clearance.

All in all a great value for the money, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a functional and affordable cake plate.

This item is not well made at all. The dome arrived quite scratched and cloudy. If return shipping were free, I would return this. As it is, I will probably throw it out as it's just taking up space in my cabinet and I get annoyed everytime I see it.

First, I like this cake dome very much. It's attractive and looks like it does it's job well. I'd give it 5 stars. Unfortunately we don't have one. I also must say I was very skeptical of the reviewers who complained of problems with the plastic dome being hazy and scratched and the item arriving broken. The first arrived with the dome just this way and a crack in the glass. The packing job was horrible. Amazon was great and sent me out another by next day mail. The second had the same issues, only worse, although it was little better packed. The next person I talked to at Amazon said that their policy is to only send one replacement and therefore he would need to refund my money. I expressed my surprise that they wouldn't have taken a little more care the second time around. He said that there may be a problem at the particular warehouse with the stock and/or the packers but unfortunately he couldn't do anything about things at the warehouse end of things. All in all, the customer service agents gave 5 star service, the shippers zero star service. I am going to order this through another vendor. Let the buyer beware who orders this through Amazon.

This item is perfect for my needs. Fits nicely in my fridge when needed and also is nice and classic for when on the table. I'm very happy with it.

I think they repackaged the one they sent to the person who said it arrived "scratched and cloudy." Mine was a gift and when I unwrapped all of the bubble-wrap there was an Amazon seal covering what was obviously the previously cut original tape on the box.

I decided someone may have returned it because it wasn't what they wanted, so I opened it. The soft plastic top was cloudy and scratched.

When I went to Amazon to print a return label I was told that it had to be a refund only because it was out of stock, so if it suddenly appears back in stock, watch out. They may be trying to sell it to yet another customer.

I am very happy with this cake platter. I was initially disappointed because it arrived broken. Amazon customer service was very helpful and a new one arrived in perfect condition at no cost to me.

Great cake holder, keeps bagels and other pastries fresh while keeping the flies off! It came cracked on the side but wasn't thru & thru.

This cake plate is awesome it looks like its a glass dome. Although it is plastic. It looks attractive and can hold lots of pastries.

This is exactly what I was looking for. My husband's family is never without a homemade cake on hand, and we wanted something for our new home. This was lovely to look at and shows off the cake while keeping it fresh and moist and I love that the top is light--clear plastic that doesn't have me constantly worried about breakage without feeling flimsy either. The bottom is glass which has a nice heft, is easy to clean and doesn't get marks from cutting.

All in all, a great purchase and makes me surprisingly nostalgic about my years in Saxony.
